“Could not have been worse, hosts yelled at us for asking for clean towels”

We stayed two nights, the rooms were pleasant but not as clean as a few years ago, the food was mediocre at best but the hosts... cranky, rude, unhelpful, everything was too much trouble and a simple request for enough clean towels for the group ( it was July 100 degrees) caused them to lose their temper and shout at us! It is way past time for them to move on, I wouldn't ever stay again and we are in the area all the time.

“A nice place in Antietam”

Bob and Charles are very gracious hosts. The room was large and comfy.
Breakfast was served in the dining room, and it was just delicious. We enjoyed fruit, coffee (or in my case a lovely hot chocolate), baked french toast, with baked bacon..YUMMMM!!! and continual offers of more coffee/hot chocolate.
Bob and Charles are both very interesting people, as they have come from a Theatre background, and their stories are just amazing.
The location is good, just next door to the Cemetary, and at the end of the tour of the Battlefield. Only a few miles up the road is Shepherdstown, where the best place to eat is the Press Room. As we were there in December, nothing much is open in Antietam for dinner, so Shepherdstown it was.
Lovely comfy stay.

“Time for Bob and Charles to sell and move on!”

Stayed there before and noticed quite a difference. I think that Bob and Charles are just about at the end of their B&B days. Took an act of congress to get a "tiny" cup of coffee in the morning before breakfast was served. Seemed to be bothering Charles just by asking. Plus....every light in the house was constantly turned off if you left the room for even a second.
I know times are hard but coffee and lights are a must for me! There are additional things along these lines I could write about but they are similar in nature.

“Despite the other good reviews, our group had a miserable experience”

The hosts were rude and unwelcoming (we had 7 people staying at The Inn at Antietam and the rest of our group was staying, thankfully, at the Jacob Rhorbach Inn. Perhaps the hosts are gracious to an individual couple but I certainly would not recommend booking several rooms here for a group, as it appears too much for this Inn.

“Totally enjoyable bed and breakfast near Antietam and Shepherdstown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

Charles and Bob are gracious and entertaining hosts. Both come from show business pasts. They professionally gauge what you are looking for, and deliver it. The house and neighborhood are quiet although off the main road. Breakfasts are excellent. Lots of reading materials. Great place to unwind, chairs on the porch or the garden. And, you will never forget the hosts. Antietam is 1/2 mile away, Sherpherdstown about 5 miles. Highly recommended.
