Stayed here for 5 nights for a conference. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and unique. The bathroom was excellent, it looked as if it had just been renovated. It was very quite, could only hear a bit of noise from the street below but I wasn't on the Geary St. side. The room was a little small, but there was just enough room for a cot. Also, getting a goldfish in the room was awesome. Free coffee in the mornings is nice (none in the room but I find getting it from downstairs is easier anyway). The gym was large enough with lots of equipment, and the sauna and hot tub are great to relax in after (for free!).

The location is excellent for tourists, close to the street cars, lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. About a 10-15 min walk to the Moscone center. Starbucks about 2 seconds away. A great sushi place called Ryoko about 1 min away. Overall, very central - you can get to most interesting parts of SF in a cab in less than 10 minutes.

Highly recommend.

This hotel is outstanding. I stayed here with business in November 2011. I would come back with the family if they can do good rates.

Stayed second time for three night. The room was acceptable in size; excellent in design- just unique not like a chain, and very quiet considering the location. Having a sauna and fitness room in the middle of SF is also a great plus. If you chose to come with your car, do not use the valet. You can park in three minutes walking distance next to Dottie’s True Blue Café for a fraction of the price. Join Kimpton’s loyalty program for free internet. And we loved the atmosphere this hotel has, starting with the bellman, the wine tasting, and last not least the dog at the reception.

Stayed her during a work trip with a colleague and enjoyed the overall experience. I had to blink a couple of times upon entering the room: wow,very colorful and lots of stripes. I like quirky hotels though and it was a pleasure to stay in a more unique setting.
I found the bed to be a little bit too soft for my liking and the blanket too thin, but the latter was quickly fixed with an extra blanket. Our television was not working properly when we arrived, but this was taken care of as soon as we mentioned it at the front desk and we found a friendly apologetic note and some treats upon our return.
Loved the complimentary happy hour downstairs from 5-6 pm. Great way to unwind with a glass of wine after some long days at a trade show. Friendly staff. Overall very happy with this hotel.
