“Beautiful suites with enchanting deco”

Ultra-hip, ultra-trendy, sexy but upscale younger crowd!

I stayed at the W in SF as a mini-getaway and chose a suite with one king. Turned out to be gorgeous - spacious, well-appointed, top of the line speakers and tvs, two gorgeous bathrooms with wonderful tubs (bonus for people who like to soak!) and a plush bed that I could sink into without getting lost and having to flounder around to get out of. Beautiful views of San Francisco from both rooms in the suite lined by comfy, cushioned window seats and pillows. Trendy, energizing yet zen decorations everywhere that didn't feel like an obligatory afterthought. I'm not usually that impressed by hotel decorations, but the W San Francisco did it! The furniture was sleek, automatically lighted closets (2 in the suite) were a nice touch, comfy and cozy plush bathrobes.

The Bliss bath products were nice and go with the fresh younger theme. I requested a toothbrush and a housekeeper was literally knocking on my door with two toothbrush packets a minute later. Love that efficiency! I didn't get a chance to try the complimentary Acura car service, but that's a plus.

The location can't be beat - great views on higher floors and close proximity to Union Square, steps from the Museum of Modern Art, and close to all things downtown SF.

Great for a night with the girls, tourists with a little extra to spend on lodging, a trendy couple's getaway (great in-room breakfasts), or a younger businessperson.

“Beautiful, modern hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My recent stay at the W was great. The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. I stayed in one of the corner rooms that had a king sized bed. The pillows and linens were perfect. Great views of the city....I was able to see the Bay Bridge from one window. The wooden shutters were a nice touch. Next time I would like to take advantage of the Bliss Spa, I just ran out of time! The hotel is in a good location, near lots of shopping and restaurants. Thanks to the staff who were very professional.

“Another spectacular stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This is an update to a previous review. We recently stayed at the W SF for the weekend with our six month old baby. We had another fantastic, comfortable stay. The lobby is newly renovated; it looks great, has more seating, and generally seems to flow better. The new restaurant is also delicious. It's farm to table, yummy, appetizing food. It was really fun to stay there with our little one. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. It has become our home away from home.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are wonderful

“Top hotel, one of best 'W's I ever stayed”

Having stayed in dozens of Sheratons and many W all over the world, I would judge this one of the best one - based on great service, friendly employees (and with humor), really working acura service, fantastic room with equally fantastic view, great food (lavish breakfast)

“Just Average Hotel and Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We live in the SF area and were attending a conference in the city. We couldn't get into the conference hotel, but my husband's admin was able to get the same rate here. The hotel is very "trendy" with cool lighting, etc. but lacked on some comforts.
We arrived during the football play-offs, timing our arrival to miss traffic but still catch the second half. When we arrived at 4:30, our room wasn't ready. They gave us a coupon for a free drink in the bar and said they would call our cell when the room was ready. There was no TV in the bar, so we followed the game on our iPad. After 45 minutes and no call, I went to check on the room and it was ready. Why didn't they let us know?
When we got to the room, the TV wasn't working properly. We called the front desk and they did send an engineer up fairly quickly. He was able to fix he TV and we did get to see the last quarter.
I agree with other reviewers about the noise of the bathroom door, particularly since my husband got up for business, while I slept in. Also, the bed was very uncomfortable, lumpy and soft, sort of futon-like. We had a corner room on the 28th floor, so it was very quiet with regards to street noise.
We did get a ride in the courtesy car when we asked about a taxi, which was good since we had the wrong address and the driver was able to find where we needed to be. Thank you, driver!
The location is good, next to Moscone and MOMA. The bar appeared to hopping in the evenings, so if you are into the trendy bar scene this might be a good spot. We felt that our stay was pretty much just average with some good and some bad.
