“Front desk nightmare + noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Bizarre! The Asian lady at the front desk told me my reservation had been cancelled by Booking.com. I showed her the voucher, she did not accepted,I entered online at booking.com, showed the confirmation online, she dis not believe. She said that I could show her wherever I wanted, she knew that I had cancelled my reservation/ At the end, with sarcasm, she said that would make me a favor and gave me a room. The hotel: noise, noise , noise, from everywhere. Never again.

Room Tip: Free parking is good.

“Awesome Stay!”

This was our third trip to SF in a little over two years. We have stayed at different hotels each time and The Wharf Inn is by far the cheapest place we have stayed at and the free parking is extemely rare in this wonderful city. Sure, there was street noise from the street sweepers and tour buses in the early morning hours but that is not a reflection on the property owners. It is in an ideal spot, not to far from Pier 39 or Ghirardelli Square. The only negative was the small bathroom but that may have been to accommodate the stairwell and elevator that our room was next to.

“Free wifi”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Stayed 1 night in Oct this year. The room is nothing to shout about, and it felt pretty budget like that of a chalet. The good thing is it comes with free wifi, free coffee at the lobby and very close to fisherman's wharf. At that kind of price, we were expecting a better hotel, but I guess in San Francisco, nothing comes cheap.

Read some reviews about the room being noisy at night, thankfully that was not an issue for us and we slept pretty well. We also did not encounter vagrants or drunkards when we came back late at night. Actually, the area felt pretty safe and it is relatively close by to the tram stop and streetcar.

We were traveling in a big group of about 40, and as our flight was around midnight, the staff were kind enough to allow us to store our luggages in one of the rooms, as they probably have never experienced such a big group storing luggages at the same time.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Will I stay here again? Probably not, as I think with around the same price, it is better off staying in those bigger chain hotels.

“Great Location but noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Stayed here over a weekend in late October. We arrived before check-in from Australia and were very tired but we were able to check-in early which was a god send after the long flight. We had a room on the second floor street side which was very noisy because of the vagrants around the seven eleven across the street. The trucks collecting rubish were quite loud and without ear plugs I would not have gotten much sleep. That being said the hotel was quite clean and in a fantastic location. 2 min walk to the waterfront and about 10 mins to the alcatraz pier.

Given its a bit cheaper than some of the surrounding hotels i would stay here again.

“The Wharf Inn is disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Can we not give it a big fat zero??

We stayed there last night, Nov 12, 2011. Spent $233 to have a nasty room. Bed skirt had white stains, gross. The front desk man said upon check in, "You're the unlucky ones to get get a room with a balcony overlooking the street." I thought he was just being amusing. Umm, no. Our balcony overlooked the 7-11 that was busy all night long with people buying booze and handing in front of the store. All night is not an exagerration. There is also an entrance to something right below that workers stand at and chat all night, loudly. The walls are paper thin. We could hear every noise, hall way, above us, next to us. Insane. When the people above us showered this AM it sounded like the shower was literally in our room.

We opted to stay out of our room, with our two daughters, as long as possible so we'd only have to sleep. We were out the door by 7:30am.. there was no sleep anyway.

I can't begin to say enough how I would not recommend this place. I'd rather stay by the airport and drive in than stay here for it's convenient location and free parking. My daughters were literally scared all night. They'd have rather slept in the car. Really, really bad. Even after showering, I feel the need to scrub with purel.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel, there is no good room.
