Well, I wasn't sure about staying at the Sheraton at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco because I've known about that hotel for many years. It's been there for many years, and I was afraid it would be old and worn out. I traveled with a good friend, the woman who was my best friend in high school fifty years ago. It took a bit to figure out that you enter their driveway from a side street. The common areas are very nice and the personnel very helpful and friendly.
Our room overlooked the driveway where taxis enter to drop off people and where we left our car with valet. Now for the parking. Would you believe $51 per day! Parking in San Francisco is outrageous. The hotel was nice, but I'd be inclined to look around next time to see if I could find something with cheaper or free parking, possibly in the Van Ness area. It was a bit noisy in our room one night as people came into the lobby right below our window at all hours of the night.
The room was nicely appointed. New everything, except for the heater which worked just fine.
Now, for the beds. Fantastic! I don't know what they do to make those beds as comfy as they are, but I want to duplicate that feeling at home. I pulled back the sheets and found a tag saying the bed was a Serta P/S (which I assume stands for Serta Perfect Sleeper.) It didn't say if it was firm, soft, or whatever. I'd say it was somewhere between firm and medium firm. The sheets and pillowcases were smooth and tight weaved. I found that I could order those exact same sheets by going to Sheraton.com. Expensive but luxurious. And at only 300 thread count, which I have given up getting in recent years. These have some polyester in them. Feel so rich and smooth. Then, the blanket and duvet were also luxurious. I think I've made my point; I all but purred when I rooched down into that bed.
We did not try the hotel restaurants and instead walked to restaurants in the adjacent Fisherman's Wharf area. Be prepared for big time tourist attractions. Lots of junky shops and vendors but with really good seafood restaurants all over the place.
People with asthma and or/alergies might want to think about staying somewhere else; we both reacted to something. Don't have a clue what it was, but my eyes were bright red by the second day, and my friend was resorting to her inhaler for her asthma. We were both extremely uncomfortable.
Bottom line is we liked this property. Everything in San Francisco is outrageously expensive. For about $150 through Priceline, Hotwire, or other discount sites, you can get the room. Then, we added tax and parking and wound up paying about $220 a night.
Room Tip: Ask for a room in a quiet location away from the lobby and cars and people coming and going.

Dear Prsmith8, many thanks for the 4-star review and the detailed comments on your experience during your recent visit to our hotel. I was pleased you enjoyed our comfy new Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds and that you rated our service 4-star as well. I'm so sorry you reacted to something in the room. I'm not sure what that could be, however we are in the process of installing new PURE hypo-alergenic rooms throughout our hotel that will be available early next month, so please feel free to contact my office prior to a return visit so I can block one of these new rooms for your arrival. Thanks again for the visit and wishing you warm regards,
