I would recommend this hotel for people wanting a central location in downtown SF or someone coming to SF for a convention being held at the Marcone Convention center. Nice lobby and many people to help you make plans around the city at the desk.
Stayed 6 nights in the Marriott Marquis in downtown San Francisco. King bed. Standard sized room. Nice amenities. TV location near the window was an odd location for watching from bed. I had to turn the TV about 45 degrees for a head on view.
This was a great hotel for me because of the central location. It is also 1 block from the Marcone Convention center, which was the reason for my trip to SF. Very easy walk.
Sky bar: Bar on the top floor of the hotel with amazing views of the city. No need to go anywhere else. We had all the people in our group coming to our hotel for the view. Made for a nice short walk home at the end of the night.
Very close to Market street where you can catch all kinds of mass transit including the BART or trolly or surface bus. Very convenient to get anywhere in SF. Just use google map directions and it was very easy. 3 blocks from Union Square, another nice shopping area.
Hot tub was really big and well maintained; this was used more than a few times on my trip. Also had a lap pool and very good work out facilities.
Nearby shopping included a walgreens for incidentals and foot. The hotel was even nice enough to bring us a minifridge free of charge to keep some bottled water cool for day trips.
Did not use parking so can not comment on this service but valet is available; also self parking available on Mission street some of our friends used and might be cheaper.
CON: Not near the water or the warf; will need to do 20min walk to water (near bay bridge) or taxi/bus/trolly to the fishermans warf. The F trolly will take you right to the warf and picks up on Market street and is very easy to do.
