“Cheap and Cheerful”

The staff are friendly and willing to help when required. The rooms are basic but generally clean. The location is on Lombard Street so practically central to everything you would want to see in SF.

This is not the Ritz, but if you're looking for a central location and decent accommodation in a major city - I would not hesitate to use the Redwood Inn.

“Great Value, excellent service”

Upon booking at midnight by phone, I requested a quiet family room, given upon arrival next day. Good elevator right by office, free parking (some covered), soft drink machine, baggage cart, and ice machine on ground floor by elevator. Owners and managers extremely kind and knowledgable concerning area, with free very readable maps. Breakfast is fresh doughnuts/muffins at office. Easy 10-minute walk to Fishermans' Wharf, close to buse stops and many restaurants on Lombard Street. Turn right out of the driveway and it's 7 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge. Coffee/tea machine, small refrigerator in room; take a clip to keep the drapes completely closed. Lovely city building view from the 4th floor. Room always very clean.

Room Tip: Fourth floor at the back very good to eliminate street noise.

“Perfect Location”

We will rave about Redwood Inn for a long time.
The inn is perfectly located for walks to: Fishermans Wharf, Alcatraz pier, amazing food on Union & surrounding streets, to bike hire for the day, to the cable car & public transport options to the Mission District, Union Sq & all the cool San Fran hang outs.
The inn itself in terms of price is the cheapest in the area by far, it is spacious, comfortable, bright w a large window, small kitchenette in our room, a coffee pot that we used every single morning, the bed is large & comfy, the heater & all amenities work well.
We loved the inn keepers, they are helpful & very knowledgeable about the area & were always smiling when we walked in, asking for another nights stay ( we booked for two nights, then loved SF so much we stayed 6 )
Major plus: amazing donuts & muffins for breakfast every morning!

“Good Value for Exploring San Francisco and Bay Area.”

We had the pleasure of visiting San Francisco over New Year’s Eve. The choice ended on Redwood Inn as the place to stay.

I had to phone them to make the reservation; compared to how easy available online booking is today it was odd.

The Rates where great, also the special rate over NYE, with everything booked we left for San Francisco.

Upon arrival we were meet friendly and with open arms, we felt expected and everything was in order, did the paper work and went to the room.

The Room was very clean and good condition. Bed was comfy and everything had its place, towels were on a rack and toilet was clean and inviting.

Toilet flusher was broken, but you could flush it manually so we decided to notify the front office in the morning and started out on the adventures of San Francisco.

The toilet was fixed when we got back to the room, and everything was now in order. Also the cleaning had been executed and very though.

The Redwood Inn is perfect if you want to stay fairly cheap. With free accessible parking its perfect for a place to stay and explore San Francisco.

It’s close to Fisherman’s Warf, lots of good restaurants on Lombard St, Chestnut St, and Union St. You can walk to the Marina and see Golden Gate Bridge.

Just make it up 3 blocks of Lombard St. (steep) and you have access to the Cable Car for Downtown.

Only negative thing to mention is that sound travels well in the rooms, Lombard St. is a busy Street, you can hear that, as well as other neighbors of the Redwood Inn.

All in all a great bargain, we were most pleased with our stay for almost 2 weeks.

I would recommend to stay here if you wanted to visit San Francisco.
