“San Fran. hidden delight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

Classy, strangely metropolitan, with some real old-world charm. Close to most everything worth seeing. Parking is a bit steep, but, oh well. Great beds, pillows, and excellent front desk. Yep-they have room service. Really very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area-and probably not as uptight. Business travelers and Vacationers alike will love this place. I will be back again (have stayed there on 3 seperate occasions). Enjoy!!!!!

“Service & Suites are outstanding”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I have traveled the world at 5 star hotels and Kazi Ahmed, the Director of Guest Services has extended the best service I have experienced. He treats you like you are a guest in his home which is rare or even extinct. Front desk staff and Bellman all get an A+ also. The renovated suites are very nice with everything upgrated to a high standard. The restaurant for breakfast was very good along with outstanding quick service. The only drawbacks are the standard rooms and the much lower end neighborhood.

Room Tip: high floor to avoid street noise.

Good value for money! Try this hotel if you are visiting San Francisco for the 1st time and don't want to pay too much on high-end branded hotels. You won't regret it!

“Hotel Whitcomb - classy hotel”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in July 2011, and really enjoyed the accommodation, and taxi service arranged to airport was also high quality. My only reservation is the amount of homeless we had to find our way through getting to downtown san fran. If you stick to the F Tram there isn't any problems.

“Great hotel, bad location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This was a great hotel. I stayed here as part of a Contiki vacation group over the 2011-12 new year holiday. Check-in was simple since I arrived before the group I had to check in alone, but it was very simple. They have a nice lobby, very historic style, and the elevators were quick to my floor and from the lobby. The room was nice, nothing too fancy but wasn't run down at all. the lighting in the hallways was a little dim but i think it added to the historic value of the hotel. They have free wifi internet in the rooms so that was a plus. the hotel is just across the street from a BART station so it is very convienent to the airport and in the middle of the street in front of the hotel is a muni stop for market street. so getting around is very easy. the only downfall was the location. i walked across the street to get some food on the first night only to find out the area was very shady. there were a lot of bums around the hotel. if you must venture out at night, i would get a cab or go as a part of a group, i wouldn't go alone.
