“Good location, thin walls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed here last week and found the location to be very convenient to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach and Chinatown. The walls were very thin and it was noisy at night. The wireless connection was super bad so I would not select this hotel again when in town for business. The bar opens at 6:30pm, we couldn't get a glass of wine before dinner!!!! Breakfast was included with the room and that was the best part of the stay.

Thank you for your feedback and for pointing out our convenient location to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach and Chinatown. Though we are glad that you enjoyed our breakfast, we deeply regret if you experienced any inconveniences. We understand the importance of staying connected while away on business and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Exciting changes at our property will include wireless Internet in all guest rooms and we hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back to regain your confidence in us. Thank you for sharing your review.

“Not up to Hilton Standards”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

An overall disappointing hotel. Rooms are dated and not very modern. I am a Hilton Honors Gold member, did not receive an upgrade, got the standard double room. Overall service was not good. The printer in the business center was not working for most of the time I was there. Then they were down to one working elevator, for the entire weekend, nothing like waiting half an hour for the elevator. Not to mention the breakfast service in the restaurant was terrible. No one to seat you, I finally resorted to seating myself. Takes forever for someone to come bring you coffee. I expect more from a Hilton, especially when there are numerous hotels in the area to choose from. No wireless internet.

“Hilton Fisherman's Wharf a Good Experience”

I stayed here for three nights using Hilton Honors points while taking my stepdaughter to college. Stayed Jan 22-25. Everyone at the Hotel was very nice and helpful to a fault. At Check-In we were upgraded to a Junior King Suite, given a welcome basket, free internet and free continental breakfast coupons, which turned into a full breakfast buffet for free because they never brought out a bill for the buffet, for it or put it on our room! The toiletries are top notch and the room, while a little dark (faced their inside courtyard) was comfortable and perfect for our needs. You are two blocks over from the cable car at Taylor St which will take you right to Union Square. We did not rent a car and if you are not used to city driving I would not recommend renting a car. Also, be aware that there are homeless everywhere in this city of 700,000 so if that is disturbing to you, then best plan a vacation somewhere else......like Disneyworld.

It is always such a delight when a guest takes the time to mention they had a good experience at our hotel! We appreciate that you are a Hilton HHonors member and pleased that we could provide you with the perfect accommodations for your trip. If a guest chooses not to rent a car, our close proximity to the Cable Cars, street cars and bus lines is an easy way for guests to travel. “Small, noisey and very dated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I'm very dissapointed with this establishment. Being a Gold hilton honors member, ive had my fair share of hilton stays and for the most part, they are great.
I have only been in this hotel for a few hours and already extremely frustrated, to a point where i had to drag myself out of bed to the lobby to write this review. I couldnt even do that from my room because i dont have internet there!

Positives;
Staff here are very freindly as described by other controbutors to this forum
Overall cleanliness and presentation is nice. It is a non smoking building but they have a good little courtyard on the 1st floor (open air) for smokers or the only other place is outside the lobby on level L.
Location is handy, I am here on a semi business/pleasure trip so walking to the wharfs and doing the touristy thing was fine. Its also a very short Cab fair to main district, Union Square. The fare was approx USD 10.00 inc a $2 tip

Negatives:
My room was very dark which is typical of hotels but this seems especially dark
The decor is very Old, i have 2 double beds in my room and a small char with otteman and a study desk with a lamp.
The bath room does have a shower/bath tub combination (all in 1), toilet and sink with the standard toiletries provided however i will emphisize it is small with a dual shower curtain fixture.
Towels are rather aged.. although clean, they have this dull grey appearance and needs to be retired.
The rooms here have a TV on a cabinet with room for a minibar, however there is no minibar! They didnt even provide a bottle of drinking water. There is a "instant coffee" basket near the door but that is all i could find in the room.

Now my main gripes....
I checked in, had a shower and tried to do some work. The Rooms here do not have WIFI in rooms, you need to have a computer with a LAN port for fixed wire connections. I thought to myself "luckily i brought my Dell and not my MAC book Air" which does not have a LAN port.
Plugged it in.... doesnt work....
I went to Lobby and requested a for help, the friendly staff asked me to return to my room and wait. A technician will be with me shortly. I waited 20 minutes and no one came so i left to get some lunch. On my way out i told the receptionist (who had changed by this stage) and they sent someone up with me. Although he was very helpful, he could not resolve the issue and i have to use the Lobby wifi.

Second Major Gripe:
The rooms squeak with every footstep my neighbours makes on ALL sides. I have unsuccessfully been trying to sleep for the last 3 hours but i hear every footstep the guests upstairs make, i hear the toilet flushes from the room next door, and i hear the squealing breaks and engine rumbles from every car that goes past the hotel. This room is like a echo chamber....

I would recommend to try another hotel chain or the hilton in the main district, it seems to have better reviews and i wish i had used my points to stay there instead..

sleepless in San Francisco..

Room Tip: Because of the squeaky floor boards, i would recommend to ask for the 3rd floor. That way you only h...

“Great location, averege hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

If you are expecting a typical full service Hilton…this is NOT the hotel for you.

This is more like a B grade hotel or with a motel type feel. Its older 3 storied property, which I guess is common with the hotels around the wharf. The hallways were musty and rooms are basic with older amenities.

On the positive side, its couple of blocks from tourist attractions like Fisherman’s Wharf and cable car stop. The restaurants on the property are good with friendly staff.

However, as I indicated, if you are expecting a full service Hilton, you are in for a disappointment. If you are a Hilton loyalist, then bite the bullet and look for your points and expect the least from this property.

Feedback from our guests is important and we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Thank you for positive comments about our location. Many of Guests find our proximity to Fisherman’s Wharf, cable cars and restaurants convenient. One of the things you may not know is that the area has a strict height restriction for buildings, thus the low-rise layout. We recently completed a renovation of our hallways and hope you have the chance to come back to visit.
