First impression was not ideal, given that both of the front desk staff were from another hotel and gave me misinformation about my room and stay (sent me to the wrong elevator, and while my room included breakfast, I wasn't given the little vouchers I was supposed to show at the restaurant; the desk folks told me to simply show my room key). Once on the elevator, I was a bit scared for my life. There are two elevators, one of which appears original to the building (including it's decor). While that's a nice authentic touch, elevators need to be functional and most important to me, not make scary noises while in motion. The other elevator was much newer (and faster). Each time I hit the button for the elevator, I prayed that one would arrive first!
Once in the room, I was very much pleased with its size (king suite). The couch was your typical hotel couch, however; not something I'd expect in a luxury hotel. It was also stained (and I didn't even look to see what the other sides of the cushions looked like; didn't want to know). The two HDTVs were very nice, but not connected to a high def signal. And no HBO or similar movie channel? Odd. Another fun situation was obtaining ice... no ice makers! I eventually called the front desk, who promptly sent up a bag for me, but not after searching for that ubiquitous item for 20 minutes, and after being told there's an ice machine on the 4th floor (not true! Not that I could find, anyway). I was on 6.
The bed was comfortable, but not luxury-hotel comfortable. Perhaps I've been spoiled by one too many Ritz's, but this was closer to a middle-of-the road Marriott bed than a high-end boutique. Also, the comforter was a tad thin (again, not "luxurious") and there was no extra blanket in the closet. The bathroom was very large and well-appointed, and the jaccuzzi tub worked nicely.
Lastly, the business center prices were absurd! I understand that most folks travel with laptops so perhaps there's little demand for freestanding computers. I needed to do some unexpected last minute research for work, which included needing to print out a letter, and I'd left my computer at home. The rate is nearly $8 for 15 minutes of computer time! That's close to $32/hr. Wow. Plus I think it was $1 per page to print or something absurd.
The hotel had a "club" area, which, once you enter, allows you to see that there's a whole second hotel attached to this one. This other one appears to be much more modern while retaining the boutiquiness. Free happy hour in the club lounge with cheap wine (sorry, I'm a wine snob) and good free food (thin crust pizzas, mostly). I didn't get to see the other rooms, but everything about that part of the hotel from the outside looked and felt nicer.

Dear winecharmer-
Wow, its seems we really missed the mark with regards to what you were expecting. I am dissappointed that aside from the items you mentioned of which it is true we don't have HBO that we did not make you feel more comfortable. I recognize that a great stay is in the details so I will be certain to share your feedback with Managers to see where we can strive to improve. Thank you again for comments
