“Good location, staff not happy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Stayed here for a business meeting. Pros: good location, good water pressure in shower, large rooms. Cons: not enough elevators for hotel when it's full, weak wireless connection in rooms, staff attitude, food, noise level. Staff at the front desk, concierge and bell stand were friendly. However, staff that served meals during business meetings were very unhappy and surly. The food served at sit-down meals was really bad. Even served moldy butter at one of the meals. When we pointed it out to the server, she said we must have done that to the butter. Note that if you are staying here and there are events taking place in the lobby, all the noise goes directly into your room. The hotel has an atrium lobby that extends to all the floors.

Room Tip: If you have a fear of heights, get a room on a low floor. The atrium designed bothered some colleagu...

“Pretty good business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I stayed here for a work conference for 3 nights in January 2012. As other reviewers have said, it is in a great location, with plenty of shops and restaurants around the area, and right next to a BART station.

I was a bit disappointed in my room though. I expected more from a Hyatt Regency. The room itself was very small and felt kind of dark and depressing, and the 'bay view' was through a very narrow window - too small to really appreciate it. I was sharing a room with a colleague, and the 'two double beds' were more like two king size singles. They were very narrow. The worst bit was the bathroom. It was just a very strange set up - with the sink and vanity outside of the actual bathroom, practically in the entry way to the room. The bathroom itself was very small, with a shower over the bath and a toilet.

Overall, it was an ok stay, but nothing more than average. I'd go back for the location, but not the rooms.

“Killer Location, Major Vertigo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I've been wanting to stay in the Financial District and got a great deal on the Hyatt via Hotwire. The hotel is located just a block from the Embarcadero and the Ferry Building, and within walking distance of shopping and other nearby sights.

The bed was cozy and we had a great view of the Bay Bridge and the city. The parking is pretty pricey - $57 per night, but there are lots nearby. The room was clean and the shower had great water pressure - always a plus in my book! And I know I'm spoiled, but for the price, I wish there had been an in-room coffee maker. Not a deal-breaker though.

Warning - if you are scared of heights, this is not the hotel for you. Once you make it to the front desk on the second floor, you take a glass elevator to your floor, then walk to you room by way of one of the narrowest corridors I've ever encountered. The glass doors in the bedroom open and do not have any type of screen, so the only thing that was between me and 9 stories below was a concrete barrier. If you have kids, opt for a lower floor.

“Great location for a quick trip to SF!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Nice hotel - very clean; an old skool beauty. If you're a first timer or you just want to do the tourist thing, this is the place for you. The big port building is right outside with a flea market, lots of restaurants, and walking distance to Fishermans Wharf. There is a metro station and buses nearby, if you want to go over and check out Haight. St. area... Highly recommended.

“Nice hotel, skip the restaurant”

My room was great, I scored one of the bayview rooms with a balcony which was great on the warm sunny days (twit on a higher floor almost got me with a cigarette butt, not the hotels fault). Room was spacious and clean, had an adjoining room door that was a bit thin. The atrium and lobby with the glass elevators were so impressive I took lots of pictures. Room price was a bit high but for the location and service (and work was paying so win win) I was happy

Room Tip: If you can get a bayview room with a balcony, and try and get a high floor to avoid twits flicking...
