“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed there from the end of December to the beginning of January. The location is excellent, walking distance from the Fisherman's Wharf, a very nice area with great restaurants and touristic shops. Also 2 blocks from the bus that takes you to downtown and a little bit more to the cable car final stop.
The hotel is old but clean, the room is very spacious, we were 3 people and had a good space for the luggage and for us. Although our room was facing the street, there was a good isolation and the noise was not disturbing, even at night. I was positively surprised for the good appearance of the hotel and room. After reading some reviews we were expecting something worst, but for us it was ok. I don't know if it was due to being member of "Priority Club" (the hotel's rewards program), we were very welcomed and didn't have any problems with the staff, and didn't feel them cold. The heating system is a little noisy, but not one of the worsts we've seen. The amenities are average and the room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast is really expensive, but there is a Denny's at the corner, an I Hop very close and many other options. We would come back to the hotel and recomend it !

Room Tip: We stayed in the main building, but don't know how is the other building.

“You don't want to go there!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

Though great location, this is a terrible hotel - old, not clean and not welcoming. Over priced and not the place you want to stay in.

“Like I Slept Outside”

I could not have had a worse night on a business trip. Not only was the front desk lady icy cold at check-in (who wants this after a long day of business meetings?), she gave me a room off of the alley, with a dumpster (that apparently gets frequent activity) and next to the street. Needless to say, I looked and acted like a drugged-out zombie for my next day of business meetings. I love SF but I won't be back at this hotel any time soon. No wonder the rate was so good.

The only consolation - free wireless intenet.

“Generally ok. Very expensive breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

San Francisco is not a cheap destination. So, finding a reasonably priced hotel with good location and decent quality is already a win. This Holiday Inn is such a case. The touristic Fisherman's Wharf with its restaurants (great seafood!), shops and intertainment is within the walking distance from the hotel. The property is ok, though surrounding streets get rather noisy since early morning, so only higher floors can boast reasonable level of noise. The hotel was nice enough to let our family of three move from the ground floor to floor 4.
It felt like the majority of guests belonged to some huge tourist groups. The hotel offers two public Internet stations, but connection was very slow. Parking a car on the hotel premises was very convenient, but far from cheap - over 60 USD per night. Breakfast is another rip-off. On top of expensive menu they manage to charge 15% service fee, even for the self-service buffet option! I suggest trying other eating places outside for breakfast.

Room Tip: Try to get to upper floors

“Fisherman's Wharf San Franciso”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Great place to stay. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. Close to shops and the tram stop and of course right on Fisherman's Wharf. Easy to take a tram $5.00 each way to Union Square. Did a San Francisco tour which included the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Good value. Vinceno our bus driver and guide was very informative and humourous. Lots of opportunity for photos. Had a wonderful time in San Fran. The only downside was there were a few people begging for money which can be offputting, but they don't grab you or anything, just ask for spare change.
