I stayed here 22 years ago and when it came to choosing a hotel this time there was only one place for my wife and I. Our stay here was very pleasant. Staff were helpful and informative. Room was brilliant (level 5 on the street frontage) which gave us the sounds of San Francisco to enjoy at night. However, if you don't like a lot of night noise I suggest you ask for a room away from the street. It can get quite loud. We loved it. The hotel is right in the heart of San Francisco and everything is very easy to get to.

The only thing that could be better is the bed. It was very very soft for our liking.

This hotel was decent - not great, but not terrible. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a long weekend and needed it to be pretty centrally located to most bars/restaurants so this hotel satisfied both those requirements. Rooms were small, but decent, and clean. The only real big complaint was the staff was very unfriendly. We just didn't get a good vibe from them at all. It's a good hotel for a short stay, I wouldn't stay longer than 2-3 days max.

Spend 3 nights in January 2012 and have to say, I was not disappointed. Staff was really nice, room was ready early (noon), room was spacious, bathroom was only a bit small but not a big problem. Room was located on O'Farrell street, so a little street noise and garbage collection was early in the morning but I slept with ear plugs in (roommate snores) so it didn't bother me. Swimming pool is heated so my morning workout was just great.

Our room was in the newer building and so there is a short stairway to get to the elevator or just let your luggage be delivered to your room by the staff and pay a little tip. Both options worked out for us.

The only unfortunate encounter was with another hotel guest: O'Farrell street also has an entrance to the hotel but you need your room key to open the door. I had my room key, they didn't, asked if they could show their room key and to my surprise these people were very offended by this question. There is a reason you need your room key to enter the hotel but I guess safety was not their priority.

Other than that, the hotel was great, location excellent, overall stay a big plus!

I loved this hotel we have just stayed for 3. Location is great right on union square,the hotel was lovely and clean as was the hotel room. the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Had breakfast each morning food and service were great . could not fault this hotel loved it ..
