Great find! Close to downtown SF. Joi de vive hotel - old boutique hotel taken over and made over by Best Western. Great find. No frills like breakfast, but there are plenty of place to go for that stuff anyways. We were pleasantly surprised with the room. Definitely will recommend it to friends and family who may stay in the area.

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago, and we're glad we went back. The hotel has a European charm to it, and it is a GREAT value. Even though they don't have shuttle service to Union Square anymore, it was still a great place to stay. It's close to everything in San Francisco and the rooms are large and nicely decorated. They seem to take a lot of pride and put forth the effort to make it a unique hotel even though it's a chain. Any ammenities they don't have, they offer at the larger hotel just across the street. After biking across the Golden Gate Bridge all afternoon, we picked up a bottle of wine and cheese, slipped on the plush bathrobes over our suits and had a relaxing soak in the rooftop hot tub! The hotel was quiet, and we had the roof top terrace to ourselves.

If you look up the location on Google Earth, don't be put off by at all by the industrial location. Even though there are warehouses in the immediate area, the hotel itself is really close to everything. We didn't hesitate to walk to dinner and shopping.

The lovely french woman in the lobby is a delight. We were so glad to visit with her again. We are both looking forward to staying at The Carriage Inn again the next time we go to San Fran.

I've stayed here twice in the past few months and love this hotel. I'd stayed here a few years ago when it was totaslly a Best Western and liked it but now that it is run and refurbished by the Joire de Vivre folks it's even better. Every JDV hotel is awesome and this one is no exception. Impeccably clean with super fun decor and themes (each room is named for a different San Francisco nutcase...uh, I mean, notable) this place will put a smile on your face. Also, as with all Joire de Vivre hotels the staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. You won't find a better hotel for such a great price...except maybe the other two JDV hotels on the block - the Americania across the street (a little more pricey) or the Good Hotel next door (cheaper - and free parking for hybrid vehicles). I highly recommend this hotel!
