“Would Not recommend”

We left our main feedback with the hotel who encouraged our opinion.
The bed was comfy, the shower was poor and apart from a tv, no other amenities were provided.
The hotel is aching for pride and care in many aspects.
We felt unsafe outside the hotel, but Renoir can't do anything about that. What can be improved is inside the building, and there's much to be done there. We will not be returning.

“Great Stay in SF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

people found this review helpful

Just got home and read the reviews can't believe some people are talking about the same hotel. I have stayed there many times. It's nice to have a staff that knows my name. Everyone is very helpful. It's like coming home. Check out the SF Farmers Market just around the corner, also the excellent view of City Hall at night. Every major city has drug addicts and homeless, this is the nations problem, not the Renoir. If you want to visit Little Saigon and check out the great food. Go for lunch. I'll be back

Room Tip: All rooms are great check the off season rates.

“Do not stay here pay a little more and be safe”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This is the worst hotel we have stayed in the hotel was dirty, the rooms were disgusting we did'nt even want to take are shoes off, you could here running water when you was in the lift.
outside is there civic center which means, down and outs we did'nt feel safe, got abuse of one of the homeless. we used to get up really early to miss them then just hat to face them when we came home. It is a shame it's a nice building, great location 5min walk up the road you are central to everything, but it is so dirty and the homless outside just really let it down.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL pay more to have a good holiday San Fran is such a lovely place could not fault that, so much to see there.

Room Tip: don't book one

Dear happyhlos,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us and allowing us to respond. We can assure you that our Housekeeping Department is very committed to keeping our rooms and common areas clean and sanitized. We shampoo the carpet regularly and schedule additional cleanings as necessary. We agree with you that San Francisco has a visible homeless population; which can be surprising to out of town visitors. Regrettably, this is a city wide problem that affects downtown, tourist areas as well as residential neighborhoods. Our city officials are aware of this and have been trying to make it a priority to work with social services to improve the situation. Security is important to the Hotel, which is the reason we have an attendant to assist guests and secure the building. We apologize if our rooms were not up to your standards and hope that you will allow us the opportunity to try again, as many of our guests comment on how clean our facility is.
Sincerely,

“Great hotel, great service!”

I was extremely pleased with this hotel. First, for its excellent hospitality, everyone is really polite and focused on serving their guests. Second, it is really clean and the rooms have cool views of the city. The hotel is not located in a rich part of town, however it is right in front of the BART Station, which can take you everywhere in San Fran, therefore the price is awesome and you are still close to everything. My girlfriend and I took the cable cars everywhere at all times of the night and we had a blast!
Finally, I forgot my clothes in the closet, and the housekeeping department saved it all for me, and was extremely helpful into finding the best way to get them back to me.
I WILL DEFINITELY stay there again if I go to San Francisco.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms facing Market Street :-)

“A TRUE ADVENTURE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I had not been in San Fran in almost 35 years. My motivation to stay at the Renoir was the closeness to BART and the rates. The rooms are clean the staff nice. I realized the neighborhood and homeless sucked also for food I ate at Carls jr the Asian cafes close by were filthy and scary and staff were rude at doughnut and bakery. shoppes. I went to farmers market on weekend If I go back im taking a thermos for my am coffee and buy it at Mc donalds
I dont like starbucks coffee but they have wi fi also the main library has wifi the hotel charges a per day rate I liked the Greek cafe across the library they have a great lunch special. the busses and cable cars and bart run up and down Market or by the hotel the mall where Nordstroms is, has a huge food court, too And most the Walgreens have good fast food too. Safeway by Castro is a very nice supermarket for cold cuts bread and cheese for a picnic or grocery store needs. The hotel needs to offer a continental breakfast the adjacent cafe to hotel to me seemed pricey so I went to carls jr for hot cakes in the am

Room Tip: the tubs nay be hard to climb into if your elderly ask for walk in shower instead the rooms on th...

Dear utahteddybear,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel and our neighborhood. We are thrilled that you were pleased with the Renoir Hotel and our staff. Since we are centrally located, there are quite a few restaurant options surrounding us. We would like to mention a traditional Italian restaurant named Little Joe’s , that is situated in the Renoir Hotel and just a few steps from the lobby. Of course, we are always at our guest’s disposal when it comes to referrals and booking tables! We hope you will come back to San Francisco soon and stay with us again.
Sincerely,
