“Nikko, a #1 Hotel experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I have stayed at the Nikko Hotel three times. All three times were wonderful experiences. The rooms are very nice, clean and I feel high end.The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Location is one half block from Union Square. The metro is a block and a half to the south. That can get you most anywhere, the Port, Giants Stadium. I will be going back this spring with a stay at the Nikko and a Giants game. The Nikko is a must for a stay in the city.

Room Tip: I stayed three times, twice facing east towards Union Square on a higher floor. Out standing views o...

“LOVE THIS HOTEL!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

FROM ARRIVAL TO DEPARTURE THIS HOTEL IS PERFECT FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY! My husband was on a business trip to San Francisco and I came along to introduce him to some contacts of mine. His conference was held in the hotel so went to a beautiful gym and a wonderful breakfast that was included before his meetings. There was a lounge on our floor where I worked during the day an in the evening the city of San Francisco's best neighborhood was outside our doorstep!!!

Our rooms were spotless, brand new bathroom very comfortable bed and extremely hospitable service! Great for couples business travelers and families!! Everything in San Fran is a cab ride or trolly car ride away ad nothing over 10 mins.

The weather was beautiful during the day and chilly at night. We plan on coming back in the fall to Hotel Nikko !

Room Tip: Stay on Imperial floor

“Fit for purpose”

We stayed 4 nights on holiday on the Imperial Floor and overall the rooms and hotel itself were beautiful, in a modern, minimalist and functional style. What surprised me though was a lack of attention to detail from the staff, especially given the cost. Although they were friendly enough when approached (front desk, concierge, Anzu restaurant, Imperial Club Lounge), there was nothing outstanding or remarkable about the service. I didn't feel like the staff were there to please me (and definitely not trying to super-please me), rather just there to perform a function, i.e., very task oriented. The breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was very good, but the Sunday Brunch, which we booked for and paid for separately, was average at best, again, because nothing about it felt special - most of the food was either bland or boring (however the sushi assortment was the one standout), the wait staff were just getting through their jobs, and the DJ/live radio broadcast was somewhat of an interruption. Overall, disappointed that Nikko did not meet my expectations, and would not stay there again, other than maybe for a couple of nights' business travel.

“Our #2 Hotel in San Francisco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

2nd only to Mandarin Oriental.
This was our 3rd stay at this hotel because we love its sustainable, clean lines, simple, modern (almost Dutch) design. Our rooms in all our stays were very modern and functional, spacious, with impressive view of the city. The beds were also very comfortable. Location cannot be beat -only a few steps to Union Square and Powell, the shopping hub of San Francisco. From this hotel, we walked everywhere, to the Metreon, to Westfield mall, even to OSHA on 2nd and 3rd St. (that is also our favorite Thai restaurant), and one time through Tenderloin district to get to AMC on O'Farrell (not a very good idea @ midnight). Starbucks at the lobby was the boyfriend's office on holiday while I wandered off in the city streets. We especially liked the embedded plasma TVs in the bathroom mirror. When plasma tv was still new back in 2009, we were like children excited about it as it was very unexpected. We also loved the fountain at the white marble lobby. This hotel's design highlights space quite a bit and will successfully impress you about that. Breakfast @ Anzu is also excellent.

Room Tip: suite rooms are worth the extra dollars. you will not be disappointed.

“Great stay - would definitely return here”

Stayed here for 2 nights --- purchased the Nikko Floor Room with "free wireless internet" and full breakfast included. A great deal! The whole experience from start to finish was outstanding. Service, friendliness, room, bathroom, food, pool, fitness center, everything! Terrific location also.

Only negative was that fitness center was an extra charge --- $20 for the stay for 2 people.

Room Tip: Read the website carefully about room sizes so you know what to expect.
