A clean hotel at a budget price a block or so from Union Square. Like every place I've stayed in San Francisco, there is street noise. As others have mentioned, the rooms are small (but are you coming to San Francisco to hang out in the room?). Expect to wait for the elevator at prime times.

The Statford is a fantastic hotel right in the heart of everything. Very close to transport (although we did have a hire car, we decided to use public transport during our stay) which took you to all the touristy places San Fran has to offer. Rooms are small, but very tidy and if you're doing a lot of sightseeing who needs all the space?!

Staff were very helpful, especially when we got there after a very long day of driving. Breakfast was great. The tea selection was wonderful (being a tea drinker instead of coffee is difficult in the States)

We were delighted with our stay at the Stratford and will stay here again.

This has to be the cutest hotel right in the heart of Union Square. We stayed here for one night just because we really enjoy San Francisco during the holidays. Folks were very friendly, even allowed us to have our bags held while we shopped. Small room, but hey for the price it cant be beat. This place will always hold a special place in my heart, because I was proposed to this same weekend. We have already booked our stay for next year :). It can be a little noisy at night but hey what do you expect when you are right in the middle of everything.

This hotel couldnt be in a better location, just round the corner from Union Square, cable cars right outside with shops, bars and restaurants all around.
Directly across the street is the Gold Dust lounge, with live music and drink promotions from 5pm till 8.30pm (glass of champagne $3) Well worth a visit after a days sightseeing or shopping!

We stayed for 2 nights in a club room on the 6th floor with fantastic views over Powell Street, even with the window open it wasnt as noisy as other reviews had led us to believe!

Our room was very clean, good comfy bed, spacious ensuite shower room with rainfall showerhead, Rusk toiletries, ipod alarm clock docking station, tv, bathrobes, iron and ironing board and free wifi.

Complimentary Tea, coffee, juices, breads and fruit were served on floor 2 from 0730 and 0930

Reception staff were really friendly and helpful in booking trips, luggage storage and airport shuttles. Taxi to/from airport cost approx $45.

Will definately stay here again next time I visit
