“very good location”

We stayed there for two nights and really enjoyed our stay.
The room was big, clean and quiet despite overlooking the street.
The breakfast served in the hotel bar was good but we didn't have as much choice as we had in other hotels during our trip.
We were also disappointed not to be able to get boiling water for tea on a sunday evening.

“Not just bad but ruined my trip!”

I won't add the same information about the disgusting room. Agree with all those comments. It was the nightclub level noise that blew me away. The club below was so loud- blaring music til way past three am. Unbelievable thFat this hotel charges anything to stay here. It's 545 am and traffic noises are loud enough to wake me. I am so tired, that there is no way I can enjoy my only day in San Francisco and that sucks! I'm so tired I feel like a toddler on the verge of tears. Thanks, embassy hotel and hotels.com

“Great value and walk to the opera!”

We were pleasantly surprised to find the room (506) was quiet, clean, "newish" furnishings, large closet and bath with interesting tile, firm mattress with NO bedbugs (we checked), and although we were next to the elevator, we could not hear it in our room. Walls NOT thin, windows have screens and open. Didn't use heat so not sure about that. Safe didn't work. No frills (iron, fridge, coffeemaker etc), but we carry out own. We will definitely return for events in the area and stay here. Great value and safe feeling walking toward Van Ness.

“Don't expect Embassy Suites..”

This is a typical hole in the wall, NY City type hotel, absolutely not for a business traveler. If you're 21-28, don't mind the stench of bad carpet and patchy walls and steel heaters with pipes in the room, then its a pretty decent deal. Lots of homeless guys picking cigarette butts right outside the hotel lobby. Well, Lobby is an exaggeration. It's really just a walkway with a small tall desk area. The hotel's got this doorway to the bar next door, so, like I said, if you aren't there for business, you may actually get lucky!

I have to admit, the people managing the place are extremely kind and polite. That was the real stunner. They don't have iron/board in the room, so, ask for it. The bed side lamps aren't connected to a power source cos there aren't any! Bathroom's ok..you can tell they are trying to make it look comfortable. Towels are short (I'm 6'2) but good enough.

Bed Bugs....I don't think they have any but I was kinda paranoid cos the sheet is rough and very uneasy.

Otherwise, it should be your last resort kinda hotel. Try to call Marriott first and try to get a good rate for a courtyard or something. Better that way.

Room Tip: Ask the Front desk for a king size room away from Roads cos it's very noisy, can't sleep!

“The location takes away from a very respectable hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We had no problems staying whilst staying in this hotel, however it's positioning was rather scary. Turk street is a very rough area of San Francisco which really took away from the hotel which was a shame.

The staff were very accommodating, checking us in despite being three hours early. The rooms are very nice despite the dated feeling you get walking through the rest of the hotel. The doors to each room (which require just a key) could be kicked down, and the dead lock didn't work from the outside on either of the rooms. This wouldn't be such a big deal if the hotel was in a more hospitable area, but it's always in the back of your mind. Internet is very temperamental, but the free breakfast was good in the morning!

Wouldn't stay again, but not because of the hotel, purely on the location. Not very central to anything, and never really felt safe.
