“Don't expect Embassy Suites..”

This is a typical hole in the wall, NY City type hotel, absolutely not for a business traveler. If you're 21-28, don't mind the stench of bad carpet and patchy walls and steel heaters with pipes in the room, then its a pretty decent deal. Lots of homeless guys picking cigarette butts right outside the hotel lobby. Well, Lobby is an exaggeration. It's really just a walkway with a small tall desk area. The hotel's got this doorway to the bar next door, so, like I said, if you aren't there for business, you may actually get lucky!

I have to admit, the people managing the place are extremely kind and polite. That was the real stunner. They don't have iron/board in the room, so, ask for it. The bed side lamps aren't connected to a power source cos there aren't any! Bathroom's ok..you can tell they are trying to make it look comfortable. Towels are short (I'm 6'2) but good enough.

Bed Bugs....I don't think they have any but I was kinda paranoid cos the sheet is rough and very uneasy.

Otherwise, it should be your last resort kinda hotel. Try to call Marriott first and try to get a good rate for a courtyard or something. Better that way.

Room Tip: Ask the Front desk for a king size room away from Roads cos it's very noisy, can't sleep!

“The location takes away from a very respectable hotel”

We had no problems staying whilst staying in this hotel, however it's positioning was rather scary. Turk street is a very rough area of San Francisco which really took away from the hotel which was a shame.

The staff were very accommodating, checking us in despite being three hours early. The rooms are very nice despite the dated feeling you get walking through the rest of the hotel. The doors to each room (which require just a key) could be kicked down, and the dead lock didn't work from the outside on either of the rooms. This wouldn't be such a big deal if the hotel was in a more hospitable area, but it's always in the back of your mind. Internet is very temperamental, but the free breakfast was good in the morning!

Wouldn't stay again, but not because of the hotel, purely on the location. Not very central to anything, and never really felt safe.

“Nostalgic Hotel”

Myself an three friends had a trip planned to San Francisco for a rock concert at the civic center. I was in charge of the concert tickets while one of my friends was in charge of the hotel reservations. We ended up staying at the Embassy Hotel just three blocks away from the concert. It was a very convenient place to stay and worked out great. The hotel was built in the early 1900's and has a lot of character. It is not fancy but from the moment you walk in you felt like you are in a different time. I would definitely stay there again as it was quiet, comfortable and the price was very reasonable.

“Just about what you'd expect”

Paper thin walls, basic bathrooms, often an indistinguishable smell permeating the corridors and sometimes a rather more distinctive aroma if you get my drift. Nice big bed, plenty of hot water, decent maid service. If you can take the heat of the Tenderloin then this hotel will do just fine.

“Great Location but in need of Serious work”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

Used this place as a late evening starting point for a trip up north to the Redwood Country. Flew in and went straight to Hotel. Location was excellent if you know San Francisco (Grew up in the Bayarea). Free secure parking in the downtown was a big draw to this place. But out side of that, the place was need of some serious upgrading. Room was marginally clean, made 15 cents looking in the drawers. Furniture was old and broken. Bathroom was right out of the 1930's with what looked like orginial plumbing and decor. The bed was decent. The neighborhood was rundown and not for walking around at night. There are great resturants nearby from up scale to Mickey D's. Overall, we got an OK rest and Hot Water to start our trip. NOT recommended.
