This old building is in a great location for exploring SF by foot or public transport and is reasonably priced, but you get what you pay for. The lift is antique and I opted for the stairs for speed. The promised free Wifi was patchy and I had to walk the corridors looking for a good access spot. My room was adequate with an aging bathroom but the room was clean, the shower had plenty of hot water and bed was comfortable. Street noise (mostly traffic, but also cahtter and the occasional siren) from outside was a feature but I got used to it after a few hours and managed to sleep soundly. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and also showing a bit of initiative when my friend rang without warning. I would use this again as a base for seeing central SF.
