I am laying in bed at this hotel as I write this review on my phone. It's not as bad as some of these reviews make it out to be. Location isn't ideal. Try not to stay in room 202 however. The floor of the room above is squeaky and I can hear EVERY flex of the person upstairs' toes. Quite annoying at bed time or 6am when they got up.

The bed bugs story in an earlier review is FREAKY especially considering I'm laying in the bed right now but honestly I don't see anything remotely unsanitary about this room or I'd be in the lobby sleeping in a chair right now.

The location is ok but you do have to pass through an area of town that's not so great to get here. There is a bar downstairs on the corner that is currently filled to capacity with convention partiers. I cannot hear a peep from it. Seems to be the most soundproof bar I've ever seen!

No real complaints other than my squeaky ceiling. (sigh)

Checked for bed bugs, do not see anything of the sort but if that changes I'll sure as heck revise this review.

Overall I'd recomend this place for those on a budget.

Was in town for 3 nights, found this for an AMAZING rate through a discount website. I was apprehensive about the location and thought the room rate was too good to be true... I researched through friends who live in SOMA and San Francisco and nobody knew where this place was... well they do now. Great location, recently renovated, nice clean rooms, a bit on the small side, but comfortable. Nicely appointed with a mini fridge and a little market directly across the street. Continental breakfast in the morning. Great hotel, I'll stay here again!

Ofcourse, I was worried after reading all the reviews on here but I still took my chances and booked this hotel. I can rate this hotel best among my entire stay in the States. To give a clue, it was better than Stratosphere in Vegas. The best part was the polite staff especially Marvin. All of them were really co-operative and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone travelling to San Francisco.

And yeah, don't miss the small, shabby Mexican eatery on Market St (I think it's called Taqueria on the corner of 6 St and Market St), you will certainly bless me for this tip.

All rooms in the SOMA area of SF are expensive, esp. on wkds when the prices go up. This room was cheaper than most in that area. It was boutique-like in the sense that the room was small but adequate for me & my partner. The hand & bath towels were plentiful but only one wash cloth for two guests. The room & bathroom seemed clean enough. The room was a bit stuffy w/only a ceiling fan & while I could open a window during the day, at night it would have been to noisy so we closed it & dressed light while sleeping. An open window didn't help a stuffy bathroom, however. There wasn't much room in the bathroom vanity for a female trying to get dolled up. My biggest complaint about this hotel was that the walls were thin & while I had hoped to sleep in a little after a night of partying, the noise of the cleaning staff (I presume) in the room above us was too much for me even w/ear plugs in. We picked this hotel for its low price & its distance to a local venue that was within comfortable walking distance. As two female travelers, the added feature of requiring a room card to enter the hotel after hrs was nice for safteys concern. There was no on-site pkg but valet pkg was offered with ins & outs w/30 minutes notice. This worked for us since we were walking to our venue but the desk is not staffed after certain hrs so one wouldn't be able to call for your car in the middle of the night. The pkg fee seemed reasonable for the area at $15/night. I had hoped to have a banana or fruit for the light bkfst but managed w/muffins, coffee & juice that was still available by 10am.
