“Average Stay”

The location was good, the staff were great. They were helpful with queries and the internet room but didnt offer to take our bags to the rooms or anything like this.
There was a fair few things which made the stay not 100%. Our room was small, the bed, extremely small and not very comfortable. We were next to the janitors closet which was a little noisy at some points as well.
The complimentary breakfast which was a clincher for us when we booked was very basic. The pastries tasted old, which left oats or an apple. We had breakfast out each morning after the first disappointing morning.

“Wonderful, clean, stylish, nicely priced find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I sometimes shop obsessively to find good hotels at good rates when I travel on my own money, but finding Fusion was dumb good luck -- I chose a "blind" Hotwire deal. That can be a minor risk the part of San Francisco south and west of Union Square, because there are some not-so-fresh-feeling areas there.

Fusion is located basically between two business hotels I've stayed in many times -- the monstrously large Hilton and the monstrously generic Parc 55. So the area is fine. The hotel and the room itself are both small but cozy. We had an interior room that was extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. The pillow was so comfortable I wrote down the brand and tried to order one (no luck -- hotel supply only). Staff were very helpful and I really appreciated not being in those big generic hotels. And the rate was fantastic. Highly recommended. It would stay here over the Hilton or the Parc 55 in a heartbeat, regardless of price differential.

Tip: While you can get some good deals on hotels in this part of SF, parking can be outrageous. There's a small garage about 3 blocks from Fusion (and Parc 55 and Hilton) called Best Parking. They have a website -- you can make a reservation and pay in the low to mid $20 range for overnight, slightly more for in and out privileges. Worked well for us. We stayed in a nice room, with nearby overnight garage parking for a total of less than $100. Now, this was a super bargain because it was off-season, but I talked to the desk manager and he said they also have sub-$100 rates available at other times. If you don't see a good rate call the desk and ask.

Oh, about the breakfast. It ain't much. Some fruit, commercial grade pastries, microwave oatmeal and coffee, jammed into a very small room. It got us going but that was about it. You'll want to grab your coffee and oatmeal and take it back to your room -- nowhere to sit down.

I *think* the WiFi was free but I don't remember for sure. It worked very well in my room.

Room Tip: You aren't going to get a view here so don't sweat that. Go for interior if you want quiet.

Dear DCHane,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for choosing HOTEL FUSION as part of your San Francisco experience! Secondly, I specially would like to thank you for taking the time to post a review on Trip Advisor, and your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I am delighted to hear that you chose our hotel over the large corporate hotels, and I am thankful that you appreciated our "generic-free" personalized guest service.

Regarding breakfast: we will be undergoing a renovation construction that includes a banquet room with ample seating for all of our guests. Once renovations are completed, we can offer more varieties and choices for breakfast to all of our guests.

Thank you once again for posting a review on Trip Advisor, and please do keep Hotel Fusion in mind on your next visit to San Francisco.

“Good value”

The location was great and the staff was friendly. My room was extremely small - as was the twin bed - however it was just me staying there so it wasn't a big deal. I thought it was a good enough value for what I paid for the room.

“Pleasant but far from restful”

I was attending a conference a few blocks away but the hotel was overbooked and I found this. San Francisco hotels are pricey, and even with the online discount, I experience some sticker shock. The room was the best part of the package -- pleasant design, clean, with free wi-fi and good tv (though I missed having a bathtub). There were few other amenities. The "free breakfast" featured substandard coffee and greasy pastries. (The Chinese restaurant downstairs is authentic, but the dishes were haphazard and not always the freshest.) At 2 am (on a week night) I was awakened by a crowd of males outside bellowing "La Marseillaise" for reasons unknown. I wouldn't avoid the Fusion, but I wouldn't seek it out either. That said, I enjoyed the location and it served its purpose.

This hotel was booked on my behalf for a group of us on a stay over following a sales meeting. It is great for sight seeing as it is downtown near Union Square and close to some good eateries. No complaints the room was clean and a good size, would recommend and stay again.
