I sometimes shop obsessively to find good hotels at good rates when I travel on my own money, but finding Fusion was dumb good luck -- I chose a "blind" Hotwire deal. That can be a minor risk the part of San Francisco south and west of Union Square, because there are some not-so-fresh-feeling areas there.
Fusion is located basically between two business hotels I've stayed in many times -- the monstrously large Hilton and the monstrously generic Parc 55. So the area is fine. The hotel and the room itself are both small but cozy. We had an interior room that was extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. The pillow was so comfortable I wrote down the brand and tried to order one (no luck -- hotel supply only). Staff were very helpful and I really appreciated not being in those big generic hotels. And the rate was fantastic. Highly recommended. It would stay here over the Hilton or the Parc 55 in a heartbeat, regardless of price differential.
Tip: While you can get some good deals on hotels in this part of SF, parking can be outrageous. There's a small garage about 3 blocks from Fusion (and Parc 55 and Hilton) called Best Parking. They have a website -- you can make a reservation and pay in the low to mid $20 range for overnight, slightly more for in and out privileges. Worked well for us. We stayed in a nice room, with nearby overnight garage parking for a total of less than $100. Now, this was a super bargain because it was off-season, but I talked to the desk manager and he said they also have sub-$100 rates available at other times. If you don't see a good rate call the desk and ask.
Oh, about the breakfast. It ain't much. Some fruit, commercial grade pastries, microwave oatmeal and coffee, jammed into a very small room. It got us going but that was about it. You'll want to grab your coffee and oatmeal and take it back to your room -- nowhere to sit down.
I *think* the WiFi was free but I don't remember for sure. It worked very well in my room.
Room Tip: You aren't going to get a view here so don't sweat that. Go for interior if you want quiet.
