We stayed here for a couple nights while in San Francisco. It was so convenient to so much, and far less expensive than places close to the wharf. Next door to museums, the opera, performing arts center, city hall, and more. Walk a few blocks and catch the cable car to the wharf and chinatown and such -- only $2. It's close to Hayes Valley area -- a must to visit for the outstanding food and shops. Stelline's is a very genuine small Italian restaurant with GREAT food and GREAT value. Also, the Boxing Room was super. Would eat at both of them again without pause. Too many places to list. And it's only two blocks away!
The Inn at the Opera was wonderful - small charming rooms, but with enough space to relax. It was a bit of stepping back in time, with a charming little elevator that somehow is never slow. Old time open staircase all the way to the 7th floor. Nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. Excellent, friendly, warm, and attentive staff. More than the usual amount of coffee available in the room, in a standard-size coffee maker. Frig. We will undoubtedly return.
