We stayed at the Omni San Francisco the weekend of February 11-13. It lived up to the high Tripadvisor ratings that it has received. It's an easy (flat, not hilly) four-block walk from BART'S Montgomery Street stop. The hotel is in a converted bank building that has been retrofitted nicely. The reception-lobby areas fit the vintage of the building which appears to have been built in the 1920s. Bob's Steak House is the hotel's restaurant and while that means that food there is pricey, it's high quality. Bob's also serves somewhat less expensive fare in the Bar which is a nice space.
The rooms are nicely furnished in an elegant style that fits the hotel's architectural heritage. The bathrooms are marble and elegant and very well lighted.
The only drawback we found was that our low-floor room fronting on California Street (which was nice for viewing the cable cars and the Bank of America Plaza across the street) was noisier than we would have expected a retrofitted room to have been. More sound insulation should have been included in the building's rehabilitation. If you want a quieter experience, you should probably request a higher floor or one off California Street. We are glad we joined Omni's Select Guest program because it provided some welcome amenities.
