My wife and I booked 7 nights at the Holiday Inn Express Fisherman’s Wharf on a recent trip to San Francisco to see friends and tour the city. The room rate for a king bed averaged $160 per night (weeknights were slightly more, weekend nights were slightly less).
A full breakfast was included (bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, hot cinnamon rolls, as well as pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, and juices). Quality of the food was consistently good. Wireless internet is available in the lobby free of charge; wired connections are available in-room free of charge.
The room was clean, of reasonable size, and with new furnishings. The bathroom was not large, but was of adequate size and was spotless. Common areas are similarly clean, modern, and with new furniture. I would guess that the hotel has been built or renovated within the past two years. Staff were friendly and professional.
One of the best features of the hotel, however, is simply its location. The hotel is located less than 10 minutes’ walk from Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, the Alcatraz Ferry, Ghirardelli Square, both cablecar lines, and numerous tram and bus lines. The Golden Gate Bridge is viewable from several of these locations. This is a great location if you’re touring the city.
In summary, this hotel provides unspectacular but consistent quality – it’s what you would expect at a nice, new Holiday Inn Express. Furthermore, the hotel charges a reasonable rate (in a very expensive city) and it has a great location.
