Upon arrival the hotel looks horrible, due to the location, however the rooms are rather adequate. The hallways, reception area etc are rather unclean. The rooms are very small in size which was unexpected and the bathrooms are quite dated. Taking all this into consideration, the hotel is in a good location to all the popular shopping areas. Good hotel for a short stay, no longer than 2 nights.

Booked a quuen room at this hotel for a Christmas present for daughter and son-in-law. Upon arrival they were treated rudely and not given the room that had been reserved. Instead given a standard room with 2 double beds. Later that night they discovered that the heater did not work and when asked for extra blankets or room change were told no room available and they had no extra blankets. Because of the unbearable cold they ended up driving home in the middle of the night. Repeated calls to manager go unanswered and never returned. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

When we were deciding on a budget hotel in Union Sq, we were not expecting what we stumbled across.

This hotel is an absolute hidden gem! The rooms were clean and well furnished with complimentary in-room WiFi/Ethernet. The amenities were excellent as well including all the basics i.e. bar fridge, iron & ironing board, cable tv, bath/shower combo. The staff helped us with all our questions/queries and even requests! As most reviews would agree that this hotel is an inexpensive hotel which exceeds the standards of other hotels in its class.

Some of the downsides of the hotel were that the elevator was quite small, barely enough to fit 3 adults + 3 large suitcases. Also if you take the wrong turn off the block, you can end up in Tenderloin at the wrong time if you're not careful.

Tip: If you want to catch a cab quickly, just walk across the road infront of the Hilton San Francisco on O'Farrel and you'll get one quicker than trying to hail one off Taylor.

This hotel has a perfect location in the city, however the rooms didn't quite look the same as online. They were smaller, with a VERY small elevator. It served the purpose, and our stay was great, just wasn't quite what we expected. The front desk service was so/so. We got there during shift change, and they couldn't check us in until the shift change was completely turned over. We were traveling with 8 people, so we all had to wait in the small lobby area for the staff to figure everything out with shift change, so that was a little annoying. The bar was nice, small, but made great drinks. And the airport shuttle was very convenient and cheap.
