“Overpriced with rude staff”

For the price, you don't get much - there are better deals on the island. Thought the staff was very snooty and rude, especially the security people - I called to report my daughter's cut foot from sliding down the kiddie-pool slide (she landed in the pebbles at the bottom and something down there sliced the bottom of her foot open!) They must have thought I was out for something, because they got very defensive and tried to put the blame on me. Really! I simply reported it so they could check for sharp objects so it didn't happen to anyone else, despite me telling them that over and over they kept telling me it was her fault. Sad what this world is coming to, but I expected much better facilities and service based on the price of the rooms.

“Good hotel for a relaxing vacation”

We stayed here for a week in Nov '11. This is a great hotel for families with young kids. The Pirate ship, the beach and the pool can keep you and your kids occupied for a long time.

Do note that the beach in this area of town is quite small although the beach in front of Marriott is shorter than that in front of other properties.

The view & the experience can be quite spectacular if you can get one of the ocean front rooms.

There are a variety of different rooms here and some only offer partial kitchens. So, please check in advance and plan accordingly.

Room Tip: Ask for the ocean front rooms in the Lahaina towers on an upper floor.

“Perfect”

WE stayed in an ocean front one bedroom suite in the newly renovated Lanai tower. The rooms were lovely and good sized. The view was excellent. We were able to see whales from our wrap around balcony, such a treat to wake up to. The restaurant on the property, Longboards serves very good food. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised for a hotel property. The only problem some may find with this unit is that it does not have a full kitchen which the newer towers do, This never bothered my husband and I as on vacation we were just fine with going out for dinner, The mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, plates, silver, and a dishwasher was perfectly adequate for breakfast and lunch. The grounds are lovely as well with several pools and hot tubs and of course the beach. It is my feeling that you can't go wrong at this property, Sleeping with the sliders open and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf is perfect. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Pay for ocean front or ocean view,

“Best vacation ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at the Maui Ocean club in May 2009 and can honestly say it has been our best vacation to date. The grounds are beautiful and our room was large, with plenty of amenities and comfort.

“Not all the property is up to Marriott standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We are Marriott timeshare owners and have been for over 10 years. In that time, we've traded to many different locations and have always had excellent accommodations. We expected the same in Maui; however, we were given a suite in a portion of the property which used to be a hotel. We were told it was a one-bedroom, which we agreed to, but we had requested ocean side and what we got was "propane tank view". We were extremely unhappy and after several conversations with the management, we were given some satisfaction, We spent very little time in the unit, partially because we could not use the "balcony" due to the noise from the air handling units. We were also not advised that the suites do not have cooking facilities. My recommendation when going to this property is to be sure you know what type of unit you'll be assigned. As for the property, pools are nice, beach is great, it's right on the beach walk, and they have a Starbucks on the property!!

Room Tip: Be aware if you are offered a suite that they are on the back of the property and many are island-vi...
