“Superior Service, beautiful location and Privacy”

This location is for couples looking for a quite, beautiful and restful place (ie. no kids here). 6 rooms with very cool outdoor showers. Hosts, Dan & Amy do a fantastic job of making your stay comfortable and effortless. We really liked that it's located only 5 minutes from town but is very private and quite. I couldnt wait to enjoy breakfast poolside. Lots of fresh choices and yummy baking daily. Linger with a good book or use the free wi-fi to plan your day around town. We used their cooler to take lunch to the beach for snorkeling. There's a fridge in your room to accomodate cocktail hour & snacks. The landscaping is to die for, so tropical. The Bali influenced construction is unique and allows you to enjoy the beauliful weather at every turn, very open to the outdoors. Loved it, will return.

Room Tip: Mountain view seemed more private then ocean view since common areas also face ocean, either are fan...

“Heaven on Earth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I know that to say that a place is Heaven on Earth is a bit cliche, but this Ho'oilo House truly is! My husband and I stayed there all 10 days of our dream honeymoon, and couldn't be happier with our decision. Dan and Amy are incredibly welcoming, in addition to being fantastic bakers (we miss our Ho'oilo House breakfasts!!!) and great resources for information about things to do on the island. Dan recommended that we go to Haleakala one of our first mornings there before we had adjusted to the time change, which was brilliant advice! He recommended the Pacific Whale Foundation's snorkeling tour, and we had an amazing time (and arrived at Molokini before any other boats, giving us the best snorkeling of the day!). He had wonderful recommendations for restaurants. Dan and Amy took care of all of the details for us to get a couple's massage just outside of our room. They are excellent hosts! Our room (Honu) was beautiful - it seems that no detail was overlooked. I would highly recommend Ho'oilo House to anyone - and have actually talked with a few people who are considering honeymoon destinations about what a great place it is. It is far and away the nicest, most beautiful place either my husband or I have stayed. You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Honu room and loved it, but I'm sure all of the rooms are wonderful. We mostly...

“WOW!”

We have stayed at numerous B&B's, and I would put the Ho'oilo House at the top of the list. Upon arriving we had planned on dropping our bags and heading to town...well there really wasn't anything more inviting then the relaxing poolside, birds singing, soft Hawaiian music, and spectacular view of the ocean and Molokai....pure paradise here....we ended up staying to enjoy the atmosphere all afternoon! A very peaceful place, unique, private, and very inviting!
Don't miss this B&B!!

“Perfect place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

After researching all of the options for our honeymoon, we decided to go with Ho'oilo House because of the location, reviews, pictures and surprisingly reasonable prices for the west side of Maui. We were not disappointed with any of these points! Location was great for those who want to rent a car and explore the island (which you should, it's very easy to do). The house is not located on the beach, but we didn't miss it because we drove our rental to a new beach almost every day, never more than 15 minutes away. I miss the scenic drive every morning from the house as you have panoramic views of the ocean, and going back home was equally as enjoyable with the lush green mountains. It won't take longer than 10 minutes to get to the heart of Lahaina with many dinner options for you each night (Must try Mala Ocean Tavern $$$ and Aloha Mixed Plate $). The house looks even better than the pictures on their website! Breakfast is fabulous, all natural foods and amazing fresh fruit. The owners accommodated all of our requests and were happy to answer your touristy questions in the morning when they served breakfast. I don't know why anyone would want to pay for one of the resorts nearby when you could stay at a place like this! It was truly a dream, and we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Akala Manu room is on the side of the house...still private but you get both ocean views from the la...

“Absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

My husband and I stayed at Ho'oilo House December 7-11, 2011. Upon arrival we were shown to our room, Kohola. The room was spacious considering the size of the bed and there was ample closet space in addition to a dresser. However, better than the bed was the view from the lanai as well as the super roomy bathroom. The stone bathtub was fantastic at holding hot water for extra long soaking and the outdoor shower head was perfect for washing sand away effectively :)

The view at any time was incredible. During early morning hours the deep dark sky was bursting with stars and shooting stars on occasion. The sunsets were gorgeous against Molokai (I think that was the island across the sea, shameful I know) and rainbows against the mountains were seen daily. The house was truly a Balinese home, and the furnishings were authentic. I was grateful for all of the amenities including, beach bags, books, chess board, games, sun hats, maps, umbrellas, travel books and so on.

As a vegan the breakfast selection was outstanding. Each morning there was a new type of muffin and bread - the cornbread raisin was especially nice as well as the delicious chai. My husband who is not a vegan, never tired from the baked goods selection or the wonderful fruit salad and cereals. We never experienced the "not enough food" that others mentioned.

We did not go in the pool but the fountains provided a really nice ambiance. As most others have mentioned, we hardly encountered any other guests beyond breakfast but when we did everyone was so relaxed and easy going, it truly felt like a home.

Dan & Amy were wonderful - they have a lot of interesting knowledge to share and are hosts that welcome you without intruding on your vacation.
