“Hale Mahina Beach Resort A405 is Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

My wife, two children and I just got back from Maui and we felt like we really got lucky with this condo unit. Snorkeling, boogy boarding and a great private beach only seconds from the unit. Very nice grounds area with pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean.

The unit itself was very clean, functional and comfortable. From the lanai we saw countless whales breaching, sea turtles swimming alongside the beach out front and the most amazing sunsets I have ever witnessed. Hale Mahina was great for the kids, they had a tons of fun in the pool area and on the beach daily.

We definitely will be going back to Hale Mahina A405.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the fourth floor as the sunsets and whale watching are incredible.

“A-406; The Fish Condo”

WOW, WOW, WOW!! This unit has it all - recently updated (very tasteful), fully stocked kitchen supplies, comfy beds, beach gear, and the best beach/ocean view! See http://www.the fishcondo.com for all the details. They also have a nice supply of tour books - Maui Revealed is the best one. Use it. Don't look any further as this is a great bang for the buck. We stayed a week with a family of 6 and had a blast. The grounds are impeccably kept. Use one of the several charcoal grills by the pool and enjoy the view while sipping a cold one. I will definitely stay here again. Here's a tip - when you fly into Kahului, stop by the Costco (cheapest by far on the island) and get your groceries for the week. It's on the left side of the road (Hwy 380) about 1-2 miles past the airport. Trust me, do it now! Also, use Trilogy Sailing Charters for your snorkeling trip to Molokini. You pay a bit more, but it's worth it and it's first class. Book a week ahead of time on their web site at http://www.sailtrilogy.com/ for a special discount, they also offer a 10% AAA discount.

Room Tip: A-406; The Fish Condo!

“Hale Mahina B403 Very Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011 via mobile

Location is good, walkable to small shops. Right on beach, though heavy gate between building and beach is bothersome. Pool and hot tub not crowded though pool needs heater. Beach small but interesting with sea turtles feeding each evening. This unit has little road noise. Unit overall very nice with open 2 story loft fee and balcony over looking pool and ocean. Kitchen lacks some basics - we had to buy sugar, oil, foil, coffee filters, briquettes, lighter fluid. Outside building looks tired now but currently getting painted so may look refreshed soon. The price for this unit is very good value considering all Hawaii is over priced.

“It's nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

We recently spent several days at Hale Mahina. The grounds are clean, the condo we rented was also clean; the kitchen was well-supplied. There is a beach, albeit somewhat rocky - bring or buy water shoes. In comparison to neighboring condos, this one is better in that it does have an accessible beach. One thing we didn't like is that a key is needed to get to the beach, the pool, or the grills. The gate is heavy & is bothersome if carrying beverages or food. We did not notice any road noise (another reviewer) but did note on our last couple days that the people who had just arrived often smoked on their balcony and the smoke came into our condo. If you are planning to use the grills, as noted by another reviewer, they are frequently busy so be patient if you have to wait or have an alternate plan, such as using your oven.

“AVOID UNIT B-205!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Overall, the condo itself doesn't reach the level of nearby resorts. For the price, you can find a lot of better accomodations in Lahaina & Kaanapali zone in Maui. This is overrated and overpriced.
But, specifically, just AVOID unit B-205, avoid it like hell! That unit felt very unsafe:

- the entrance door didn't close well, because it had been forced before. We worried about our safety and our luggages.
- at night you could hear everything that was happening outside and in the other units. Not the ideal if you want to sleep.
- the bedroom was almost on the street; it faced the outside stairs where anyone passed by, and had no curtains at all, except for a super-thin one which didn't give us any kind of privacy. From the outside you could see what was happening inside the room, especially at night with the lights on. I took photos of everything, as you can see I'm not making up.
- blind bathroom.

This unit just sucks, it don't matter if the view is beautiful, or the fridge is big or whatever! The view is beautiful? You're in Hawaii! That's easy!

We have been in 4 different islands in Hawaii this september, sleeping in different places, and this was the only one that was deceiving.

Also a note for the owner: even if you are a Californian living in Arizona, and the only word you can say in Hawaiian is Aloha, you should know the basics of the art of receiving people.

A traveler would expect at least a welcome message, a "hi" written even on toilet paper, not to mention a tipical welcome basket with local delicacies which is normal, from what I've seen, for any other b&b / apartment / hotel owner down there.
