Great views, fine rooms, polite service. Only one complaint as an owner of two units. Moving. From one to another is a waste of a day. One would think that STARWOOD with all of their IT staff could work out a way to treat owners
more courteously and efficiently. Btw Alex at the front desk is a wonderful asset to WESTIN. courteous, efficient, friendly . 'Made us fel important immediately.

“Not what it used to be!!”

My husband and I have just returned from a stay at The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and to say I was disappointed is an understatement! We had stayed there 6 years ago when the property was fairly new and thought it would be the same quality vacation that we had on that trip, not the case. We received a room in building 4 (one of the older buildings in the "South" section of the property), our view was the top of a palm tree, and the hotel drive up entry. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling and the room over all was looking VERY worn.
We decided to stay there and take advantage of one of those great American Express travel deals (BIG MISTAKE) and were constantly being hounded by the concierge to come and talk about their property and to schedule an appointment to look at some larger units at the property in hopes of us purchasing a time share. I had advised the concierge who had contacted me several times before our arrival that this is our vacation and we want to do nothing but rest and relax unfortunately this was not the case. We will not be staying at this Westin property again and will definitely not be taking advantage of any American Express travel "deals" again!

Room Tip: Requesting a room in the newer "North" section.

“Very Disappointing Experience”

If you do not object to a room overlooking the parking lot or exceptionally poor service, this may be the resort for you! The units are fine, but far from luxurious (think about a slight upgrade over Marriott Courtyard). The service, however, has been remarkably disappointing...as have the failures by management in service recovery. As Starwood owners, we are quite disappointed. Next time, we are returning to the Four Seasons!

Room Tip: Be sure you are a platinum member...or you may have to take what you get.

“First of more stays at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

This was our first visit to this Westin property and it won't be our last. We received top notch service from the moment we drove up to the lobby until the moment we left. When we arrived we actually drove to the South Villas as we were unsure as to what property we were staying at. The valet employee quickly checked for us and informed us that we were staying at the North Villas, so we went there. We were greeted by Tosh with a big smile and he quickly went to work loading up all of our groceries we had purchased as well as our luggage while we checked in. We were in our room barely 5 minutes when Moo knocked on our door to deliver our luggage and groceries. Moo was extremely helpful, putting away groceries, filling us in with information about the property, giving us tips about things to do, just a very kind man. We booked an island view studio so I was kind of expecting to look over the parking lot but to my surprise we were placed in building 5, fifth floor overlooking the kids (pirate ship) pool. We didn't have kids with us so I was a bit concerned that it may be too noisy, but it wasn't at all! It turned out to be a nice room location and we were not bothered by any excessive activity or noise whatsoever. And you can't beat the HEAVENLY BED!! I swear this is the biggest reason I love Westin's, the BED! I actually bought a heavenly bed for home so when I travel and stay at a Westin there is no transition!
The outdoor BBQ's are a great addition to vacation cooking, we used the BBQ's 3-4 times during our 7 day stay and it was perfect. The property is very well taken care of, extremely clean, well manicured lawns, just a beautiful setting. We took advantage of the boardwalk between our hotel and the Aston Maui Villas were our friends were staying next door, nice walk, the pathway is lit at night for your safety but the lighting stops as soon as you leave the Westin grounds of course. We signed up for an outrigger canoe trip through the concierge and it was awesome! Guides were extremely friendly, we left right from our beach so no need to drive to our excursion. We saw many many whales on our canoe trip, got close to a few, but not too close! The whales were extremely active during our entire trip, in fact, the day before we left we were treated to a very up close encounter when two smaller whales made their way extremely close to shore. They casually swam by us in very shallow water approximately 20-30 feet off the beach, very unusual and it was a bit concerning for many people as they thought they may beach themselves, but they didn't, they just swam by very slowly and gave everyone some great picture and video shots!
We will be back for sure and I highly recommend this property to anyone travelling as a couple, group, with kids, whatever the type of travel, you won't be disappointed.

“We would do this again, it grew on us.”

I first wished for a better view, a closer to beach location, but as each day passed and we enjoyed our view of the beach, with Molikai the distance and the whales jumping, we loved our location. After breakfast, and then a walk along the great beach boardwalk, we were able to snorkle each day from in front of our unit with great fish viewing. We took the shuttle to the Sheraton, one day to snorkel there and it was good, but not better that @ Westin. If you want a great walk, but not all of your energy, take the free shuttle to the Westin property beyond the Sheraton, and walk the beach walk back to the Westin Villas. We loved eating @ Aloah Mixed Plate. We actually ate there several times because everything we had was great and reasonable.Great relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: We were not sure of room placement thru our rental but spoke to a couple overlooking the kids pirate...

Aloha. We’re happy to learn that your experience became better each day. What an experience to look out over the Pailolo Channel from your villa to enjoy the views of Molokai and breaching whales! We’re glad that you enjoyed the snorkeling at our resort as well as at Black Rock. Our free guest shuttle is perfect for such an itinerary. We hope to see you again soon at Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas.
