“Best Value in the Area”

We've stayed at the Hololani three times in three different units and were never disappointed. The Hololani is on the ocean and about half way between Kapalua and Lahaina. Lot's of restaurants are within walking distance, though, if you don't feel like having to get in the car and drive up or down the island for dinner. As I mentioned, these condos are ocean front with breathtaking views but the beach itself is small. You only have to walk a short distance along the beach, though, to find a better beach. These are all individually owned condos and some are more updated than others. We've stayed in 203A, 603B and 804B. All were nicely updated and well equiped. Bldg. B is the best one to be in if you want shade on your lanai/balcony. Bldg A has the sun shining on it basically all day. These units are not air conditioned but all are equipted with ceiling fans/and or standing fans. If you go between October and May, you won't even notice it as there are great cross breezes through the condos. The resort is a bit only so there's no spacious lobby with all the glitz but it's a very friendly place to stay. They have a great pool with three nice barbeques and best of all, there is free underground parking! All the units are around 1200 sq. ft with two bedrooms and two baths, and the balconies are huge, which is what makes this place such a great value! We've enjoyed ourselves every time and will keep going back!

Room Tip: when you go online to hololani.com you'll be able to take a tour of all condo the resort manages...

“Christmas In Maui”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stayed in untit B-504 for 13 days over Christmas 2011. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. It was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We had everything needed to cook an amazing Christmas dinner for 8. My husband cooked almost every night on the grills by the pool. (They were of commercial quality) We were also impressed with the up keep of the pool area. Every morning we watched them sanitize all the chairs and clean the pool.
The beach in front of the condo is not the best for families with small kids but we seen plenty of families playing in the sand. We loved it because it was not crowed at all. We took long walks in the morning and then just relaxed in the sun for most of our days.
What I liked best about this place is the views from the lanias (we had 2 because we stayed on an end unit) we spent most of evenings watching the whales and the turtles playing in front of the condos. But be aware that there is noise from the waves crashing on the beach that comes with having a condo this close to the water. We got used to it after a couple of days.U

This is a very low key environment perfect for a layed back vacation away from all the people at the big resorts.

Room Tip: Pick an end unit.

“Sounded like a freight train!”

If you like sleeping next to a freight train, then by all means book your stay at the Hololani! Between the wind and the street noise, sleep was impossible. We actually left after one night and went to a real resort. That being said, the view of the ocean from the 8th floor was great and the room decor was new and it was clean. They desperately need to upgrade the windows however! The beach is nonexistent and it is NOT a kid friendly location. If you are looking for fun pools and a great beach that is steps away from your room, this is NOT the location for you. We were very disappointed!

Room Tip: Pick a different resort!!!! This is not a resort, just a bunch of condos stacked on top of each oth...

“A great, relaxing "home base" for a family vacation - A301”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We had a wonderful time at the Hololani back in March, 2011. We flew in the same day as the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, but everything was operating normally at the resort by the time we arrived. If you're looking for a fancy resort-like atmosphere with lots of activity and noise, this wouldn't be the place for you, but we much prefer quiet and laid-back accommodations, so this was the perfect place for us! Our room (A301) was gorgeous, with granite countertops, new living room furniture, great appliances, comfortable bedding, etc. The front bedroom was wonderful, with a sliding glass door that we left open all night to hear the ocean, while the back bedroom was HUGE and had a comfy king bed. We were able to watch whales right from our lanai, and also saw giant sea turtles right down the steps by the beach. If I had to name one drawback, that would be that there wasn't much of a beach right in front of our resort, but since we rarely stayed at our condo during the day and instead were doing activities off-site, this wasn't a problem for us. It was also handy to be able to quickly walk to nearby shopping and food, including a convenience store, Senor Frogs for snorkeling equipment, a coffee shop, etc. I would definitely stay at this resort again.

“Hololani - Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We have stayed in Hololani A202 three times. Whenever someone says to think of your "happy place" or paradise or where you would choose to be if you could be anywhere, it would be here. The unit is spacious and modern. It truly is a home away from home, which is especially important when travelling with children. 2 Bedrooms, 2 full baths and full kitchen with a marvelous large lanai looking out to the ocean. This property is ideally situated to whale watch right from your lanai. We have also watched sea turtles and spotted eagle rays playing feet from the shore-break. The beach is not as spectacular as say, Kapalua or Napili, but both are a super short drive (under 10 minutes). Hololani is in easy driving distance to many wonderful beaches, as well as the action in Lahaina and Kanapaali. Several restaraunts and small shops are within a 5 minute stroll of the property. The complex is quiet and well maintained and has a wonderful (warm), clean pool feet from the beach.
