“Wonderful place to stay in Maui, very Hawaiian feel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Wow! What a great place for a relaxed vacation on Maui. We stayed at the Royal Lahaina for 5 days before moving to The Mauian on Napili Bay Beach and we were so glad that we moved. Although Ka'anapali Beach is a very nice beach, there are so many high rise hotels there and everything is crowded... the beach, pools, etc. Things are more laid back in Napili Bay. The hotel only has a small green sign, so you need to know exactly where to find it. You get off Hwy 30 by turning left (if headed north) toward the ocean on Napilihau St, then right (north) on Lower Honoapiilani Rd. You will go past several Napili rentals (Napili Surf/Hale Napili/Napili Sunset) and then pass the General Store & Snorkel Bob's, then watch for the sign on the left and turn into The Mauian. There are only 44 units in this 2 story complex, with the buildings perpendicular to the 1/2 mile long white sand beach. The 2 buildings closest to the ocean have very good views. The floors, ceilings and furnishing were re-done in 2008 and the rooms are very nice. The mattresses werre wonderful Temperpedic. The floors are tile and the rooms have a kitchenette with a good size fridge, nice countertops, 2 burner stove and microwave. There are also very nice gas grills by the pool. No phones or TVs in the rooms, but they have a large ohana room with one flat screen and free Wifi that doesn't reach to most rooms. They have a free breakfast of fresh island fruits, toast, bagels, cereals, coffee, milk, etc. The staff here are all so polite and respectful. The grounds are immaculate and the rooms are always clean. I enjoyed my stay here moer than any place I have stayed in Maui. The beach was only a few steps away and there is a wonderful restaurant, The Sea House. Great food. The snorkeling is great in Napili Bay and the hotel supplies beach chairs and towels. You will fall in love with this place too. This was my first time there and I will be back soon.

Room Tip: We were in 101 and 108 is closest to the beach; any rooms from 101 to 108 are great, with the even...

“Perfect location”

The Mauian was the perfect stay for us. The hotel is a bit dated and the rooms are just OK, but the staff, location on the beach, and other guests more than make up for it. Our room was 20 steps to the sand and 23 to our beach chair. The people that stay there are not looking for the all-inclusive experience, they want the true Hawaiian experience. The breakfast is ample. Having no TV's or internet is a plus for us. We will definitely be back.

“A Little Slice of Heaven”

My family has come to The Mauian each year for the past 14. The accommodations are perfect for an island getaway. Comfy beds, ceiling fans, spacious showers, your own lanai, fresh local fruits and treats for breakfast (included with the room), a lush tropical paradise complete with a thatched tiki hut and my favorite...No phone and no TV in the room - ahhhhhh!

Each room is equipped with some variation of a kitchen which is another way that you can enjoy the island. Go to the Fish market www.fishmarketmaui.com and grab a fresh catch to grill on one of the new gas grills around the pool at The Mauian.

If you are looking for a quiet retreat there is really no reason to leave The Mauian except for food. If you really don't want to get in a car, there are several yummy eateries within walking distance and a mini mart next door that has nearly one of everything one might need on vacation.

The staff is friendly and will make your stay quite comfortable. The beach is so close you can hear the waves at night and you NEVER have to take an elevator to get to the beach (my #1 rule for vacation).

Napili Bay can be calm or feisty. The snorkeling is kind of hit and miss in the bay but there are other options within walking distance if Napili isn't living up to her potential on any given day. You are nearly always gifted a view of the whales during birthing season if you go in February. Go visit Snorkel Bob next door to get suited up for snorkeling - he cares!

I have been all over the island but I will always stay at The Mauian. Don't take my word for it though, book a room and check it out for yourself.

Room Tip: If you need extra quiet pick an upstairs room. The sounds can sometimes travel downward which can b...

“Superb beach front location at Napili, Maui”

Wow - my husband and I have returned to this lovely property after a number of years, since we love this beach and location. We've stayed at most of the properties on this beach over the years and have come back to the Mauian, since we heard of the great remodel and updates of the rooms and grounds. They've done a very, very nice job throughout - you won't be disappointed, all looks and feels lovely (Tempurpedic beds!!!).
Just one word of caution, the ceilings must be a bit thin, since one can hear people above getting in and out of bed and walking around. So you may want to stay upstairs, if you can.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating - we shall return! Ina and Ned

Room Tip: upstairs, garden or ocean view are great choices

“Wonderful stay in Paradise!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

We stayed at the Mauian based on friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. The rooms are renovated and clean. The kitchenette has everything you would need and there is plenty of closet/drawer space. We are a younger couple and many of the guests are older/retired and have been returning for many years due to how wonderful the place is. There is a small pool but why use it when you are right on the beach. Napili Bay is a great place to swim/snorkel. The Mauian provides a contental breakfast every morning that we brought to our room to eat on our lanai. The Happy Hour at the Sea House restaurant is awesome (try the Poke nachos) and we tried breakfast at the Gazebo - well worth the wait!! Snorkel Bob's is 2 minutes away for all your snorkel and activity needs. Prior reviews talk about noise at night - we could hear the people above us but nothing during the night - other than the waves on the beach of course. Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again!
