We have never stayed in a condo on vacation before; however, the Outrigger Maui Eldorado condominium was exceptional, and beyond our expectations. We stayed in a partial ocean view studio with a well maintained golf course outside our lanai. We could see the ocean from the lanai, and, one morning, we actually saw a humpback whale spouting. My sister and her husband stayed in a garden studio, just as lovely with one of three pools nearby. While the building structures are older, the property, especially the grounds, is well maintained. As we walked through the property, there were so many different, colorful flowers and trees throughout. The Outrigger cabana is right on the beach, complete with chairs, tables and towels for their guests. It is a very short, delightful walk from the condos. Since the condos are only two stories high, you do not feel like you are in a city complex. It is quiet and very peaceful. We spent at much time as possible at the beach, and you can walk to the Bare Foot Bar for lunch, right on the beach. As we ate lunch, we watched a humpback whale flap its fins and saw several whales spouting. Our condo had a well equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and a very large bathroom. There was ample storage and plenty of room in the studio and on the lanai. The entire Outrigger staff was extremely helpful and friendly, from the front desk staff to the property maintenance personnel. In the lobby, they have a concierge desk (very helpful) and a small store with food, etc. If you need anything, the staff response is immediate and provided with professional, friendly attention.
The Outrigger Eldorado lobby is perfectly located across the street from a less expensive, shopping center that includes a gym, a pizza restaurant, a café, an exceptional Chinese restaurant, etc. Down the road, within walking distance, is Whaler's Village that has a food court, an ABC store, and a number of upscale stores and hotels. In the food court, wonderful shows are provided free on certain nights. One day, we took the Sugar Cane Train (within walking distance from the Outrigger) to historic Lahaina and caught a local bus back to Whaler's Village. Then all we had to do was walk a short distance up the road to the Outrigger.
As we were leaving, a member of the Outrigger staff helped us with our luggage. He kindly wished us Aloha and said that he hoped to see us next year. It was a simple, sincere gesture that made our departure even harder. We came to see to the humpback whales and appreciate the spirit of Aloha, and we were not disappointed. We even saw a monk seal that was resting, under the watchful eyes of the Pacific Whale Foundation volunteers, on the beach near the cabana. Thanks for the beautiful memories!
