“Loved Maui Hill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Maui Hill has large units with a huge lanai, a heated pool, helpful staff and well kept grounds with lots of beautiful flowers.

We loved the Maui Hill Resort, the only thing missing is an on-site restaurant, but the Five Palms Restaurant across the road is very good. Our favourite restaurant was Cafe O'Lei with Cuatros a close second. We drove into Paia and tried the Paia Fish Market cafe which had great food and a fun atmosphere. The Kamaole beach parks are closeby all within walking distance.

The unit was large inside with a huge lanai. The furnishings in the units we have stayed in are typical rattan 'tropical'. The kitchen had a full-sized fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave with a stackable washer/dryer. The bathrooms could use an update but are serviceable. The bedroom had a comfy bed with and a TV. The internet worked well. The AC unit worked well and provided a 'white noise' so we never noticed the bird songs until we went out on the lanai.
The heated pool was wonderful, we spent lots of evenings floating in the pool and then into the hot tub. I borrowed several books from inside the unit and from the bookshelf at the front desk.

We drove the Hana Highway, it was gorgeous. My Hubby golfed at the Wailea Blue, Gold and Green course and one up near Kahana he said the golfing was excellent. I dove many days and was very happy to just walk down the drive and across the road to meet the dive boat at the Kihei boat launch. Molokini had excellent visibility and loads of fish.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong but it may be nice to be closer to the pool

“Not up to our expectations”

We came here based on other reviews for our 20th anniversary. The grounds are indeed beautiful. The condos dark and outdated, but a comfortable bed. The front desk checked us in around 3:30 and our condo was not finished being cleaned. They sent housekeeping immediately, but the very dirty bathrooms and kitchen made a bad first impression. Three ladies came and were very sweet and cleaned spotlessly while we sat on the lanai. While they cleaned, they accidentally took unopened food out of the cabinet, thinking it was the previous renters. I called housekeeping and explained that it was totally accidental and if found could we have it back, even laughed about it on the phone. Within minutes a very apologetic girl came to the door to return the food. We said no worries, it was only accidental. But, this set a tone again. My husband felt that the poor girl got in trouble and I should have just let it go and never complained. The next morning we found our rental car antenna bent half over. This was probably a random act, we were able to repair it, but it caused a few uncomfortable days. We started to park near the office having to walk up that big hill every evening, but ate more to compensate. I realized that I put too much importance on this trip. It ended up as a great location near the best beach and food at 5 Palms. We even took a walk to Wailea along the beach path. It was a comfortable place to sleep. The housekeeping girls are very sweet and did a great job cleaning every day. We will not return, but do not want to discourage anyone else.

Room Tip: Near the office and pool.

“Many great times here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We have stayed at Maui Hill many times over the last 20+ years. It is a wonderful place to come with young and old alike. The condos are very comfortable, clean, and have everything you need to prepare meals. The grounds are beautifully cared for, and no matter what time of the year you visit, there will be flowers blooming. Maui Hill is located in Kihei, which is a small town on the sunny coast. There are no highrise buildings here, just a lot of small businesses and condo-type resorts. It has the feeling of a quiet, relaxed apartment complex. The jewels of this place are the staff. From the groundskeepers to the housekeepers, from the front desk staff to the general manager, everyone has a quick smile and a genuine willingness to make your stay the best it can be! Aloha nui loa to everyone at Maui Hill, and Mahalo for your kakua.

“Choose wisely”

We have stayed at the Maui Hill before and would go back again. However, our latest experience was not out best as we ended up in Room 101 at the very top of the hill, furthest away from the facilities and closest to the cleaning and trash pick up. Views were lacking, noisy in the AM. Also, bed in this room was a double in the second room, we didn't even think to check if it was a king sized bed.

We will go back, but we want to be on the grounds near the pool, office etc. So be careful.

Across the street is a great beach, and the town of Kihei has plenty to offer; especially if you're okay being away from high rise facilities that may be a bit more modern, but lack the character of a place like this.

We love the employees; everyone is kind, sweet and patient.

“A wonderful week at the Aston Maui Hill!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Just got back from a wonderful week at the Maui Hill. I had booked the 3/3 way back in July knowing I could always cancel the reservation without charge if I found something better. Well, let me tell you I spent many hours over the last 6 months trying to find something “better” not knowing we had the perfect set up for our huge family plus an infant. We arranged for a crib and highchair and even an extra twin bed with no extra charge. We did prepare ourselves for possibly staying in our “Hawaiian grandmothers place” and some of the décor seemed a little dated but everything was in very good condition and spotlessly clean. We had 7 adults and when we arrived realized we did not have a fold out couch but like I said they brought in a beautiful twin bed for us. The rooms are large and our view (#8) was spectacular. The first thing I saw when I went out on the Lanai with my coffee was a whale jumping out of the water. We did bring several pairs of binoculars which made the whale watching perfect from our balcony. We cooked almost every meal in our well stocked kitchen(no oven) but the microwave had a convection oven in it. The maids came in and made beds, replaced towels, took out garbage every day. Wednesday was the mai tai party which can’t be missed (they also had several kinds of beer, wine ect.). Staff was terrific and they even let us stay a little longer on check out day because we had a later flight. By the way the short walk to the Keawakapu Beach is really nothing and was great when some wanted to go back early from the beach. We also rented paddle boards and kayaks right across the street at the Mana Kai Maui hotel which the Surf Shack is located in. Prices are very reasonable and we had a blast. It was not too hard for any of us to do with very little instructions. We saw turtles and fish first time in at that beach. Thanks again Maui Hill for a wonderful vacation and we will be back as soon as we can!!

Room Tip: We loved #8, great views and very close to beach access.
