“A terrific place to spend one's 50th Wedding Anniversary”

Our previous trip to Hawaii was spent in a very nice hotel, this time we decided to try something different and what a terrific time we had at Ocean Breeze Hideaway. Bob and Sande are the perfect hosts making us feel like very special friends that chose to keep them company for a week. The room was absolutely spotless, the breakfasts delicious, and the king size bed was more comfortable than ours at home. When you add the little extras, like the use of an ice cooler and beach chairs for the beach, jackets for our sunrise drive to Haleakala and suggestions for what to see and when to see it, you can't possibly go wrong with a stay at the Ocean Breeze Hideaway. For those days that we wanted to get going early, Bob and Sande provided us with some fruit, pastries and coffee to "get us going". What a thoughtful little extra that was!!! A little comment about our normal breakfasts, it was wonderful that a very satisfying breakfast was always served with freshly picked flowers from Bob and Sande's garden. It was also very enlightening to meet with the other guests over breakfast. We almost hated to "hit the road" since we enjoyed so much chatting with the other guests. Our only regret was having to leave, we surely hope that we don't have to wait until our second 50th wedding anniversary to return!!

“Real island hospitality in a home away from home.”

We returned from Maui this morning, refreshed and relaxed. The Coral Room at Ocean Breeze Hideaway was our perfect home away from home. We originally chose it because we eschew high priced hotels, preferring to spend the bulk of our vacation dollars on food and adventure. But our choice was perfect! We arrived at night and were greeted by twinkling lights, a lit garden path, and a warmly lit private room. We were home!

Both Sande and Bob are charming and helpful, with great tips about island food and activities. They showed genuine concern when I suffered an injury, and exuded interest in their guests and the island.

The room was charming, very"Hawaiian decor." the bed was über comfy, the bathroom serviceable if a bit outdated in decor, but nothing that would make me stay elsewhere.

Sande and Bob have thought of everything you might possibly want or need: beach chairs, boogy board and noodle floats, umbrella, cooler, extra luxurious beach towels, an outdoor clothesline, refrigerator, picnic ware and plastic glasses. The list goes on and on.

The ONLY possible downside is the scheduled breakfast. We were
Unable to avail ourselves of the sit-down breakfast more than a few times (and those times it was delicious) because we tend to get up and going early. They did offer to pre-pack a breakfast for us. But I would appreciate it more if the schedule could be more flexible- say, from 8 to 9am, instead of exactly at 8:15.

That said, my complaint is minor. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

“Quiet, comfortable, affordable and very helpful hosts.”

We spent nine nights at Ocean Breeze and found it the perfect respite: near to everything but tucked away in a quiet residential zone, nicely outfitted with the necessities (coffee pot, fridge, good bed) and much more (beach chairs and boogie board, cooler, even coats for those going to Haleakela's more frigid heights.)

It is very nice homey, not luxury, which is what we like, but it's important to know that. (I spend 150+ nights a year on the road, so hotels do not excite me.) Very much like a nice extra room and private bath (we stayed in the Coral Suite) at your relative's who happens to live on Maui and make great breakfast treats. Bob and Sande, the owners, are friendly, warm, and can be relied on for everything from rental car discounts (quite amazing ones) to making reservations for whale watching. They do seem a bit overly concerned if you dont come out for breakfast regularly, but that's a quibble in what was a really great stay. We plan to return!

“Lovely B&B - and such a bargain!”

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ocean Breeze for 4 nights in August 2011 and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Coral room.

LOCATION
We thought it was well located within Kihei. Pretty close to both the beach and the road, and quiet. We also liked a lot Kihei as a base to explore western Maui.

ROOM
The room itself is pretty standard at first sight, but the bed was soooo comfortable. Plus, it had many extras included, like beach chairs, towels and umbrella, boogie boards and a cooler, and coats hot enough to go up chilly Haleakala for sunrise. Wifi was also included.

SERVICE
Service was awesome. Bod and Sande were very nice and helpful in helping us booking excursions. They also prepared breakfast to go when we needed to get up early and couldn’t be there in time for breakfast. They took care of so many details, like providing all the beach equipment, giving tips and offering to call for excursions.

Also, if you want to rent a car, you HAVE to try the Thrifty code Ocean Breeze Maui gives when you book a room. We have a CAA/AAA card and are Costco members those memberships couldn’t beat the prices we got with OBM. And what’s even better, you can use the code for all Hawaiian islands!

CLEANLINESS
Very clean, nothing to say here!

FOOD
The one breakfast we had with them (out of 3 days) was delicious. It was a continental breakfast, but with lots of variety. On the days we woke up too early to have breakfast with them (you have to be there at 8:15 am), they provided us with fresh fruits and scones. The only thing we would change here is to add a bit more flexibility for breakfast. Maybe not all morning, but say, from 7:45 to 8:45.

VALUE
Great value. We definitely recommend it. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks Bob and Sande for the great stay and conversations!

Room Tip: Coral room is the "budget room". The bathroom is private, but it's not in the room per...

“Coral Suite”

We had a great time in Maui because of the excellent accomadations and our hosts. Bob gave a very good Lomi Lomi Massage which was competitive with the Waikiki Marriott Spa. We had a great time in Maui thanks to the suggestions of Bob & Sande, the conversations over breakfast and mixing with other guests. We saw some local entertainment thanks to Bob and also enjoyed the adventure of the "Road to Hana" guided tour. We have been bragging to our friends and family about this and we will be looking forward to returning.
