We have had a timeshare here since 1992 and we continue to come back year after year. It is a place that feels so comfortable that you can't get enough of it. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grounds are immaculate, the pool is top rate, the ocean view is spectacular and the variety of guests makes it a very fun place. We have brought our grown kids and young grandchildren (ages 2 to 15) here on multiple occasions and they always rave about it and bug us to come back again. The condos (timeshare ones anyway) are always kept up to date and fresh looking. The kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas were updated within the past few years and are clean and are very nice. You will find it helpful to rent a car to get to grocery stores and the numerous attractions around the island. There is so much to see and always too little time. But unless you are ultra, ultra, ultra hard to please you will love it. And if you are that kind of person who doesn't like it I feel bad for you but good luck in finding something that pleases you.

We have stayed at the Maui sunset for years and own timeshare time as well. We have always been satisfied with the rooms although we think the privately owned rooms are usually nicer than the timeshare rooms. We love the location and property. We have two kids 6&2 who are very well behaved. We are both in law enforcement and take behavior very seriously. The Maui sunset is more like a retirement home than condo association. They are NOT family friendly. We have always just put up with the terrible staff because we love the place but this time we vow to never return!!

We are very sure that our kids do not bother others in the pool or on the grounds almost everyday we are complimented on our children social skills and manner by the other residents here. But the staff not picks every tiny rule. The Dumpy security guard we have call the BBQ cop for years has aggressively confronted us on numerous occasions. If you stick your head down to see if the bbq flame has lit..., here he comes "sir sir dont put your head down there it could flame up and hurt you" really?!? Like this is our first time in 50 years to check a bbq. Oh and if your not standing by the pool door while it's closing .. Here he comes. " sir you are responsible to make sure that door shuts and locks". Oh and there are no tossing your little ones up in the air at the pool, no pool toys, no diving, no swim diapers, and a huge sign that says no Marco polo!! Does anyone even still play that?! And I can totally respect the signs and rules for insurance reasons but the way they enforce them makes a grown adult feel like a small child.
And keep in mind all the rules we broke there was no one in the pool or around, I could understand if we bothered someone. There has to be some common sense involved. As a law enforcement officer there is always grey area always common sense ( well at least there should be there are many who don't use it trust me I know!)
Anyways long story short Maui sunset is not a place for families. But if you are over 80 and love to nit pick we have some timeshare time we would like to dump!

We booked direct with owners (509 B) Their correspondence was quick, descriptions accurate and they were very helpful with our decision making. The property is immaculate as was our condo. Nice swimming pool, ocean view is incredible. Beach close and sunsets are breathtaking. There is even a small gym facility on property if that's important to you (a pleasant surprise for me). You will have no regrets with this property. Lihei is a wonderful vacation spot and condo 509B made our holiday complete. Thank you Larry and Beth.

We booked a condo direct from maui sunset resorts - 108. The unit was fine, just full of little bugs all around the breaker box and bathrooms. The property is beautiful. Very well groomed and the pool was very nice. Had to rent a car due to distance to restaurants. We eat at Big Wave and it was great. Next time we would pay more for a 2 bedroom with a view of the ocean as that is priceless..
