“Dated but clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed in a one BR suite with 2 baths and a view of the parking garage. I Stayed here for a few nights on business so it worked, but would have been disappointed if it had been a vacation. The property is pretty, but the rooms definitely needed a facelift.
That being said, the rooms are clean and there is a nice deep tub in the main bath.
The kitchen has a nice island with seating as well as a 4 person table and all the appliances were there.
The beach is a short walk across the street, with outside showers to rinse off.
Ample parking. I would have like to have had a convenience store onsite to get water etc.
Good restaurants and nightlife within a mile.

Room Tip: ask to NOT have a view of the parking garage

Aloha and thank you for sharing about your stay at the Aston Maui Banyan Resort. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. At the Maui Banyan we do offer a variety of categories and it appears that you stayed in a standard unit. We do recommend that anyone wanting an upgraded and renovated unit to choose a deluxe category when making your reservation. There is a vending machine on our property that has cold beverages and a convenience store is located just a block away from the property. We hope that you were still able to enjoy our lovely island and beaches despite any inconvenience and we thank you for choosing Aston at the Maui Banyan.

Aloha from the staff and mangement

i have been to kihei a few times and know what to expect. this is my first time staying at the aston maui banyan. the resort is beautiful and the grounds are in great shape. when i arrived the sign said that the pool was closed for 3 days i would have liked to know this prior to booking the hotel. then i got to the room and the bed was in horrible shape. it should have been replaced about 10 years ago. the carpet was the same. under the fridge i saw black and was scared to check to see what it was. this room is in desperate need for a reno.

Room Tip: when booking a room at this hotel make sure you dont have a view of the parkade. it was noisey from...

Aloha and thank you for sharing about your experience at the Aston Maui Banyan Resort.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. If you can provide us with room number details we would appreciate it so that we can ensure that any necessary corrective action is taken. You may email us at res.mba@astonhotels.com . Please also be assured that your concerns have been shared with our staff for their review and response. This is not our norm and once again, we do apologize for any inconvenience.

To our future guests, please if it is important for you to have a renovated unit choose a deluxe category when making your reservation. Our standard units are clean and well kept however they are not upgraded or renovated so their is a difference in the interior of the unit.

Thank you for choosing Aston at the Maui Banyan and we look forward to serving you in the future.

“Great spot if you have no kids”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We are staying at the Maui Banyan currently. The condos are ok. The grounds are well kept. However, if you are travelling with kids, look elsewhere. There is a real culture of owners here who do not like children around. Our first day we went immediately to the pool to play and were directed to the rule board in 30 seconds flat. Amongst other rules it stated no Marco-Polo, No splashing, No balls in the pool, No "horseplay", etc. Our kids were very dissapointed as were we. We were told by those that pointed out the rules that they would prefer if we went and checked out the other pool as they were trying to nap. We hoped this was an isolated incident, but the same thing happened again tonight. We had a bbq at the pool and our kids were playing in the pool after supper. It was 7:30. They were laughing and making noise. An owner came out on his balcony and started yelling at the kids to be quiet. Shortly there after, the security guard showed up and told us they'd had a noise complaint. We had to shut it down and go hang out in our ok condo.

Aloha and Thank you for sharing about your experience. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. The units at the Maui Banyan are individually owned and owners choose to rent them on their own, rent with a management company like Aston Maui Banyan, rent with other management companies or some do live on property as well.

Although there are signs posted for specific types of play that is prohibited at the pool, this is not to discourage children from being at our property but rather to ensure the safety of all our guests and owners.

Your experience noted is surely not the norm and we do welcome families with children. We truly apologize for your inconvenience and hope to have another opportunity to serve you in the future.

Please, if you return contact our management team directly and we will do our best to make you as comfortable as possible.

Mahalo and Aloha,

“Comfortable condo, great BBQ and pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We went on a family vacation with 9 people and rented two condo rooms. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. Our room had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, fully stocked kitchen, and a washer/dryer. As other reviewers mentioned, the location is wonderful, with the beach across the street. What we really enjoyed was the BBQ and pool area, where we lounged and made dinner in the evenings. The grounds are beautifully kept, and parking was free and convenient in the adjacent structure.

Aloha and Thank you for sharing about your experience. The Maui Banyan does have grills located at both pools and there is just something special about cooking in the good old outdoors. We appreciate your comments and hope to see you again soon.

“Living on the beach - hearing the waves crash for around 200-225/ night- totally worth it.”

We've been coming to the banyan for 14 years straight now, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else.. The rooms are mostly individually owned, so styles will vary, but they are all clean, well kept and the service here is wonderful. You're across the street from kamaole 2 beach, one of the best in Maui! Make sure you get the 1 bedroom, 2 bath units... The extra money its well worth it as they are generally much brighter and always much larger than the "hotel room" version that is offered. Stop at Safeway on your way in, pick up groceries and grill away while you're here.. great way to make some friends at the banyan.

Aloha and Thank you for sharing about your experience with us. Yes, our location is truly awesome as we are so close to the ocean, shopping and restaurants. Maui is known for our lovely beaches and we are happy that we are right next to Kamaole 2 which is very popular. We hope to see you again in the future.
