My wife and I, along with our daughter and her fiance, recently spent a week in Maui. I thought it would be better, and cheaper, to try and stay in a condo rather than rent two hotel rooms, and this place turned out to be an inspired choice. Our beautiful apartment (501, one of the deluxe apartments) had a complete kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, two baths, and a nice lanai with a stunning view of the beach and ocean (which, unfortunately, wasn't good for swimming; more about this shortly). The condo is also an easy walk from several supermarkets, several restaurants (from fast food on up), a shopping area, and an outdoor fruit/crafts market. Kihei is also a great place to make your base of operations, particularly if you have a car, as many of Maui's wonderful attractions (Lahaina, Hana road, Mt. Haleakalah, etc.) are only a reasonable drive away. Although our beach wasn't good for swimming, there was good swimming, I think, within walking distance, and in any event there is both excellent swimming and snorkeling at several beach parks just a very short (say, ten minute) drive away. Finally, a word about management: the office manager Linda was very friendly and helpful, always responding promptly to emails and even letting us stay a few hours past the checkout time (we had a very late flight back to the mainland). The latter, of course, cannot be guaranteed and obviously depends on the booking situation at the condo, but there are some places that kick you out at the checkout time regardless of individual circumstances. All in all, I really have nothing negative to say about this place, and I recommend it very highly if you have, say, a family of four and want a reasonably priced alternative where you won't be crowding one another.
