“J211 - Just what we were looking for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

As a group of eight family members (4 couples) we rented 2 units from January 29-February 10th. J-211 was just what we needed. It clearly has been given the love, care and attention of a family that uses it for themselves and is sharing it with others.

The layout was functional and effective for a large group of guests. The furnishings were comfortable and up to date. Everything about the unit looked cared for: clean bathrooms, kitchen and kitchen appliances in good working condition. Perhaps the best feature of this unit was the large table and 6 chairs on the lanai.

It is thanks to this unit that we will return to Maui Kamaole as the other unit we were booked into could not even compare (K-203). If we had only experienced K-203, we would likely not be returning.

The grounds of this complex are extremely well cared for. The upper pool area located between clustered J&K is really nice with waterfalls and a grotta style hot-tub.

Room Tip: Second floor is more desirable so you don't get foot noise from above you, unless you have child...

“B-107”

We rented direct from owner in B-107 for about 10 days in Jan. '12 and found it to be the best of any condo. we have rented in Hawai'i (and we've rented a lot). First off, I am "high maintenance" when it comes to clean and the place was spotless. The bed in the master room was extremely comfortable and on a solid frame. Trish has the place well stocked with kitchen gear, beach gear, and even little things like extra sunscreen, shampoo, etc. to get you started so you don't have to run right out to the store when you get there. There were boogie boards, snorkle gear, beach toys, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach mats, coolers, and ice packs (already in the freeze thank you!), and more. All of the furniture, etc. was in great shape. My kids (8 & 10) slept on the pullout sofa just fine. There are two fans and two air conditioners so you can choose between or use both. The main lanai is very private and an added bonus was that the patio doors open on both sides to give the feeling that the whole wall is open. We have this in our own house in Seattle and just love the feeling of bringing the outdoors in while cooking in the kitchen. One thing we found handy was the second lanai and drying rack. You can put all your sandy items like snorkle gear in the second lanai keeping the condo sand-free and the other lanai open and free to eat or have drinks on. The location to the pool was fantastic if you are staying with kids or plan to go to the pool frequently. The pool area was very clean as was the pool itself. We didn't go into the hot tub, but it looked clean as well. The condo complex itself is very quiet, even though it seemed full. We never had to search for chairs at the pool even though it was always rather busy. And, while the pool would be busy, and kids were playing, no one was loud or partying, etc. At night the condo is quiet. We slept with the windows open and only heard an occasional car. The location is fantastic if you like to snorkle, hang-out on the southern beaches, surf (at a beginner level), or kayak. Very close to best Maui snorkle spots We also like condos that use a code versus key system as it's one less thing to loose at the beach. The decor of the condo was also quite tasteful island theme. We did not use the TVs or stereo, but the condo is all equipped with those plus free phone and vm. The owner was fantastic to work with, bery helpful and attentive. The condo was excellent and we will definitely book again if we visit Maui. Would recommend to a friend.

Room Tip: Ask for a place with a private lanai, off the parking lots, and near the bigger (and heated) pool. S...

“Maui Kamaole - a great vacation!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This was our fifth trip to Maui and this time we rented a condo at the Maui Kamaole. There were four adults and two children in our party so we rented a two bedroom, two bath condo with an ocean view. The accommodations suited us very well and the condo was very well equipped with a full kitchen, dining room, living room, two bedrooms, two baths and a fold out couch that was actually quite comfortable. There were three lanais (balconies) with the largest one facing the ocean. Overall the condo was very comfortable, although in need of some minor upkeep due to wear and tear. The grounds were beautiful and well kept and the pools are quite alright, although a little cool. The location is about a five minute walk to Kamaole beach #3 which is a great beach especially for the little kids. All in all, it was a great place to stay and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: If you have little kids then a ground floor unit might be better as the two story condos have two ve...

“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed there the second week of January in the H block, top floor. It was technically an Ocean view and you could see Pacific from the lanai. But why bother staying in doors when you can just walk across the road to the beautiful lawn to watch those amazing sunsets (look at the location google maps). My wife and I toured around the entire island and we were very happy that we picked this place to stay in Maui.
Why Kehei
Sure, the resorts of Kanapali are pretty, but we thought them to be quite generic. Why go all the way to Maui, if you are just going to stay in a compound. I felt that if we stayed in Kanapali, we would have felt like we stayed in the Hawaiian section of Disneyland as opposed to a part of Hawaii. All the beaches of Maui are public and they are ALL worth exploring as they are incredibly beautiful. If you are into resorts that keep everyone out and you in with armed guards, this place is NOT for you. We generally would get up with the birds at dawn and walk down to S&Q to get our morning coffee. There are so many people walking, running, biking every morning you really feel part of a very pleasant community. There are also Hawaiians on the beaches! On Sundays, some of the churches would have morning services on the park beach. Families would have birthday picnics and celebrations. We felt like we were visiting a part of Hawaii as opposed to joining just a bunch of foreigners taking over a part of land. Lots of great restaurants and there is a Foodland and Safeway in town to get your grocery shopping done. Lahaina ? Its fun to visit, but I would not want to stay there. Kehei is also the least likely to get rain on the island.
Why Maui Kamaole
If you want an incredibly clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated place to stay after a long day of enjoying the island, this is for you. We found the grounds immaculately looked after and very quiet at night. All our neighbours were friendly and respectful of noise levels after dark. The condo was spacious, and had excellent amenities for inside and outside use (e.g. beach chairs). We loved the cross breeze at night and never used the air-conditioning. However, if you are an AC type, they seemed more than adequate. The location is also I think the prettiest in town. The other end at Kalama park by the Foodland can be a bit rough. We never used the pool, but it looked nice and not overly crowded. There were lots of gas bbqs available to use as well. Nothing is far to walk or drive. We came in late at night, and it was not a problem as the doors all have pass-codes so you don’t have to worry about keys when you go to the beach and it was all set up when we got there at midnight. The place was so clean, hillbillies with goats could have been there before us and we would have never had known. In short we loved everything about our Maui holiday and this was the perfect place for us to enjoy it from!

“Maui Kamaole Unit F-207 / VRBO #272623”

Christmas 2011 - 17 night stay This beautifully decorated condo was clean, had comfortable beds, everything you need in the kitchen, etc. -- and it felt like home. It was exactly like the pictures and written description on VRBO.com. Loved eating on the large lanai and using the 2 nice pools. We loved the South Kihei area and the beautiful grounds of Maui Kamaole. My son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids (ages 13 & 15) stayed with me the first week. They left, and the 2nd week my two sisters and brother-in-law joined me in the condo. Everyone loved the condo. The owners are a pleasure to work with.
