“Unit C311”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The condo set is a great place for a family vacation. Great access to great, inexpensive restaurants (Bistro and Deli 808, Maui Tacos), very nearby shopping (Whaler's general store), and 5 minute walk from Kam II beach which is great for all kids and adults. Their pool areas are very clean and well-maintained and have huge gas barbeques for individual use.

Of note though for C311: the condo was clean and well taken care of but the VRBO lists it as having wi-fi which is NOT the case. They have ethernet connection only.

“Kihei Akahi good as usual. D-613 needs a refresh”

Have stayed in buildings C and D before. D-613 has a great view and is away from any noise. The unit is well equipped as all units all but looks a little tired as if it has been rented too many times. Maybe a repaint and replacing carpets with tiles etc would help. Not much beach equipment (ripped chair seat) compared to other units. No internet but could use an open wifi nearby. I highly recommend Kihei Akahi and will go there again but not in this unit.

Room Tip: good views from building D, 6th floor, south side.

“Another wonderful stay in D402 (Kihei Akahi) Oct 29 - Nov 10, 2011”

My mom and I stayed in this suite for 12 beautiful days. We arrived to find the lights on so we could see where we were - there were exotic flowers in a vase with a card and a fruit basket to welcome us back to Maui. We have stayed in this suite before and will stay again as it is our home away from home.

It has a great kitchen (we mostly prepare meals in Maui and spend money on adventures) with microwave, gas stove, toaster oven, coffee maker everything you would have at home. The living room has flat screen tv, books to read, some music and a comfortable setting. There are shopping bags in the kitchen as the islands are not providing plastic bags (which is also good).

Sitting on the Lanai at sunset is a treat. We find you do not need the a/c on as long as you have the doors open to bring in the breeze. The 2 bedrooms each have their own bathrooms. Lot's of towels, hairdryer, electrical outlet at the sink. The suite comes with beach chairs, floaties, cooler, boogie boards, etc. Wi-Fi was new to me in this suite and came in very handy.

I love the complex, the staff are friendly and helpful and it is nice to see the other vacationers I have met before who also keep coming back to this complex. We also like that we could recycle there as we do this at home. The turtle pool is clean and well maintained.

The staff that take care of this condo came to the suite within 15 minutes of a phone call to say we had some light bulbs burnt out - that is pretty good service! :)

The only down side we had was rain! First time to experience strong wind and clouds - guess we have been luckier all the other visits and had sun full time! Still being in Maui, in shorts, flip flops and tank tops while it is raining is better than a rainy day in North Vancouver, BC, where are from any day!!

Room Tip: Ask for photos - see their website.

“Kihei Akahi varies by individual owner but all my choices have been great!”

What more can you ask for: across the street from the finest beaches on Maui (Kam II), easy walking distance to unique and delicious restaurants (808 Bistro, Cafe O Lei), easy parking, reasonable rates! I have stayed in 2 different condos there and am about to stay in a third this November 2011. The first condo was in the C building, C420, and it was a studio on the end...quiet, clean, air conditioned, comfy bed (the original owner sold it to a Canadian couple and they have it on VRBO still but it was booked both last year and this year, vrbo 59676) and last year I stayed in DG-11..D building on the ground level opening onto the grassy area...decorated so elegantly, nice bed, dishwasher, air conditioner in living area only, a bit noisy outside bedroom, that is the passage way to elevator and cars plus it reverberates since it is subterranean..vrbo 312658). This year I am trying out a studio in D building with no air conditioning but perched in the trees on the shady end of the building D101..I will update this review after trying out this tropical treehouse. You can get ocean view condos in the C and D buildings, too.

Room Tip: I like the units at the end of the buildings (less noise of people going to elevators). Since very f...

“Great location - great condo Unit C406”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Kihei Akahi met all of our needs. Our particular unit was C406 and we found it on VRBO. The owner lives in Maui and he takes great pride in his condo, which is evident the moment you walk in. It's clean and well stocked. The unit was a nice view from the lanai. We met the owner upon arrival and he was a wealth of information about what to see and do. He also gave us a box of caramacs. Yum!

As far as the amenities of Kihei Akahi, it really has a lot to offer. We only used the main pool by the BBQ area. It was lots of lounge chairs and a covered area and nice BBQ facilities. In the evenings we saw several people having dinners there. We met some very nice people at the pool. We had an assigned parking spot and had free internet.

The location is right across from Kamaole Beach II. It's about a 3 minute walk from leaving condo to sand. Just walk through parking lot and across street. Very easy. Kamaole Beach II is lovely. Our particular unit was filled with beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear a cooler etc. Everything you'd need for a wonderful day at the beach.

I would definitely stay at Kihei Akahi again, particularly this unit. We never need the AC on, the ceiling fans were sufficient.

The owner rents his condo through vrbo and his own website kiheibeachbumsdotcom

Highly recommend this unit!
