“Relaxing Escape in Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

As mentioned by others, the cottage is delightful; fully equipped with everything one could want. Walk in to a cool cross-breeze, fresh flowers, and Hawaiian music playing. We made use of the BBQ at the back. Make sure to walk over to the Venus pool at sunrise for an amazing experience. We love the unique beaches, Pipiwai trail hike and the bamboo forest, and the quaint town of Hana. Leokane and his group were great to listen to over dinner at the Hotel. This was our second stay, and we plan to return.

“Nice Property, Clean, Quiet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed here one night with a friend who was visiting Maui for the first time. The house is nicely equipped and furnished and very clean. It is also quiet and there are no roosters! Wild chickens can be a factor in rural Maui areas.

A few things made our stay a bit uncomfortable, but depending upon your own preferences, they may not be an issue for you. First, the mattresses are covered with plastic covers to protect them, which makes sense from a hygiene point of view, but meant that both of us were boiling all night like chickens in a hot roasting pan. Even with the fans on, it did not help, as the heat from our bodies and the plastic sheeting caused us both to sweat. So, although the beds are comfortable, the plastic mattress covers were an issue.

We did not discover this until the following morning as we both woke up, and over breakfast discussed how hot the rooms had been. That's when my friend remarked "They must have those plastic mattress covers, and sure, enough they did.

Only other thing that was an issue, and again, this is a matter of preference, is that the sun comes up early a come streaming through the transparent blinds in the bedrooms. We were up before 6 with the sunrise. In summer months, the sun will come over the horizon about 5 am, so you will be awakened by the light. If you don't mind waking early, or light does not affect your sleep, then you will be fine. Darker shades would help and would eliminate the problem.

We are happy this guest found our Hale Manu house nicely furnished, quiet and clean and always appreciate being acknowledged for our hard work. We take a lot of care with our bedding and we have worked to find something that would protect the beds, keep them sanitary and still be comfortable. There is a felt lined protector under an all cotton mattress pad and superior quality, all cotton, high thread-count sheets, which we replace regularly.

The ocean facing bedrooms in Hale Manu allow for a wonderful breeze and sultry sleeping conditions. The shades do allow for morning light as well as air circulation. In the morning, they block out direct sunlight should you decide to sleep in. We enjoyed living in the house for four years and it has now been a rental for almost five years. We are always willing to work with our guests to provide for a comfortable stay. If you have any special requests to customize your stay, please let us know and we will be happy to do our best to accommodate you.

“Quiet country get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This house was even nicer than the pictures appear. It was so clean and comfortable, and had everything you could think of, from beach chairs and umbrellas, from coolers to card games, CDs, books and movies, to a kitchen equipped for all kinds of cooking and baking. Our purpose in renting was to spend more time in the Hana area vs. driving back and forth to town all in one day, and we surprised ourselves by spending much of our time at the house. It was just so comfortable and relaxing.

“An outstanding choice for cottage rental in Hana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed in the one-bedroom cottage at the front of the property. Despite their being 3 cottages on the property, the lush vegetation gave it a very private feel. As others mention, the house was spotless and the kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals-nothing was second-rate. This home is comfortable, very well-kept and peaceful. It offers everything you need while relaxing in Hana. If you are considering a hotel or B&B, you may just want to reconsider, as we found the accommodations here very much to our liking. Five days just wasn't enough. Tip: Load up on groceries near the airport, as the 2 grocery stores do not have much to offer.

“All the comforts of home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

The house was immaculate when we arrived, and Hawaiian music was playing and fresh flowers in every room. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could think of, which is great because when you stay in Hana (a fact we learned on our first trip there a few years ago), you are probably going to be cooking all of your own meals. We had the good fortune of catching our host Leokane singing and playing Hawaiian music at the hotel in town (which is only three miles away; this is a great location). We feel this place deserves the high ratings it gets.
