“Heaven On Earth”

This was our first Hawaiian vacation and we are so glad we spent a week at the cottage. Sandi was nice enough to talk to me on the phone and give me ideas of what kind of vacation I was looking for and Hana turned out to be the place I had envisioned. My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much we wished we had booked longer but we had the rest of Maui to explore. We will have to go back to finish exploring and do further relaxing in Hana.
Bring a pair of walking shoes so that you can explore comfortably over the lava stones and water shoes are nice as not all beaches in Maui are sand. It is customary in Hawaii to remove your shoes so don’t forget your slippers. We did pick up some food at Costco but we found that there was enough to choose from in Hana. Although, the Maui Gold pineapple from Costco was delicious and only $3. Pick up some banana macadamia nut bread along the road side and try the Thai food either on the road side in Hana or on the way to Charles Lindbergh's gravesite. Pick up a book about the road to Hana so that you can read up and enjoy the sights along the way. Part of the experience of Hana is getting there so take your time and drive safe. Another good book and entertaining read is Maui Revealed.
Our stay at the Hana Oceanfront Cottage was perfect!

“Just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Me and my wife had a 4 night stay over Christmas 2011 in the oceanfront cottage. We were warmly welcomed by the excellent hosts, Sandi and Dan (who sweetly gave us Christmas gifts and decorated a Christmas palm tree for us!). It's just the most serene location you could imagine with a beautiful view of Hamoa Bay. We had four excellent nights sleep listening to the ocean.

There is 15 of timelapse video shot from the cottage on this video: http://youtu.be/dA7_DaHboxQ?hd=1&t=47s

I hope we can make it back one day. A highlight of 3 weeks in three Hawaiian islands.

“Excellent”

We stayed in the suite, not the cottage, and had a very enjoyable time. The location is excellent and even better than shown on the Tripadvisor map. The unit itself is spacious, bright, and airy. All facilities are as advertised, in perfect condition and immaculately clean. The lanai is spacious and would be perfect if the view of Homoa Bay were not partially blocked by the cottage....a minor quibble.

“Oceanfront peacefulness, a wedding dream!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed at the Hana Oceanfront Cottages after much searching for the perfect wedding place. We preferred a place that was quiet, serene, restful but yet beautiful, by the ocean, and have enough amenities for a wedding. And nothing on the islands fulfilled that dream without dodging other tourists, except this perfect cottage off of Hamoa Bay. No words can describe this place, we could say "wow", "a gem", "heaven", or "spectacular" but these words just seem to understate the true essence of the cottage and location.
The cottage was perfect, perfect, perfect, from the kitchen and bathroom amenities as a start, the comfort of the furniture, to the relaxing nature of hearing the waves hit the beach. What a wonderful serene sound to sleep and wake up to! (unlike sitting on the balcony in Wailea and hearing everyone else as they sat on their balcony) There is a store in Hana for groceries but the kitchen is stocked with condiments including coffee, sugar, creamer, salad dressing, ketchup/mustard, jellies and a variety of sauces. Sandi and Dan even take care of your beach experience with beach towels and chairs, boogie boards and games.
On our wedding day, we didn't have to travel anywhere, just basically walk out the door. The sight from the cottage was more picturesque than could be imaginable or dreamed of. The pictures came out wonderful.
Some recommendations: Get huli huli chicken on koki beach on sundays, fresh fruits are along the highways (buy pineapple that's more yellow/orange and avocados that are dark), try out the recommendations for food places from Sandi and Dan along the Hana Highway (10 minutes away), Hasegawa General Store (get some mango/pineapple ice cream and some macadamia nut cookies), swim under the waves on the beach don't try to jump over them, take lots of pictures (although you'll never forget this place), and just relax as you get the opportunity in a lifetime to enjoy life. (and contact me if you need pointers on how to get Hamoa sand out of your white bikini)

“One Of A Kind”

That’s not intended to be a nifty title; it’s simply a fact. There’s really nowhere else like it. Location, location, LOCATION. This beautifully maintained, perfectly located 1BR cottage overlooks the nicest beach on Maui. Unlike some rentals that use terrific location as an excuse to neglect the actual accommodations, the owners of Hana Oceanfront take immense pride in the details. The interior is impeccably maintained with a modern kitchen, comfortable furniture, high-speed internet, satellite TV, ample closet space and (much-appreciated) ceiling fans. The exterior of the cottage boasts exquisite landscaping along with a beautiful lanai (Hawaiian porch), outside shower and outside FOOT SHOWER – not to be overlooked since the beach is about 40 yards away. Hana Oceanfront is so amazing I almost didn’t write this review because frankly, I don’t want people knowing about this gem. Unfortunately the owners are so nice I felt compelled to spread the word.
