This was our first Hawaiian vacation and we are so glad we spent a week at the cottage. Sandi was nice enough to talk to me on the phone and give me ideas of what kind of vacation I was looking for and Hana turned out to be the place I had envisioned. My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much we wished we had booked longer but we had the rest of Maui to explore. We will have to go back to finish exploring and do further relaxing in Hana.
Bring a pair of walking shoes so that you can explore comfortably over the lava stones and water shoes are nice as not all beaches in Maui are sand. It is customary in Hawaii to remove your shoes so don’t forget your slippers. We did pick up some food at Costco but we found that there was enough to choose from in Hana. Although, the Maui Gold pineapple from Costco was delicious and only $3. Pick up some banana macadamia nut bread along the road side and try the Thai food either on the road side in Hana or on the way to Charles Lindbergh's gravesite. Pick up a book about the road to Hana so that you can read up and enjoy the sights along the way. Part of the experience of Hana is getting there so take your time and drive safe. Another good book and entertaining read is Maui Revealed.
Our stay at the Hana Oceanfront Cottage was perfect!
