“Wonderful!! Just want we were looking for........”

We stayed here in Sept 2006. I can't say enough nice things about this place. It was excellent and No bugs were found during our stay.

I always were about whether the pictures on property websites are deceiving - in this case - the pictures just don't do the place justice.

It's out of the way, but in the cliffs, but it was just want we wanted. To feel like we were the only 2 people around. Peaceful, serene, tranquil.

We also had 2 masseurs come to the cottage and it was like heaven!

“Amazing Getaway - Privacy, Lush, Breathtaking views”

We just returned from a week long stay at the Waterfall House in Maui and can truly say that we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the house and surroundings. This was our first trip to Hawaii and we wanted a place with seclusion, a fantastic view, and some amenities (kitchen, pool, hot tub). We would book it again in a heartbeat if we could go back tomorrow!!

The house is perched on a cliff and has an amazing view of the ocean and a gorge directly below that sets you up for some glorious photos of sunrise (right from bed if you would like!). We used the pool and hot tub a lot - as well as the gas grill on the patio. The entire house was incredibly clean and efficient - had everything we needed for our stay.

The neighbor town of Paia is very cool and has some great shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed being on the "locals" side of the island and avoiding all the tourists on the West/South shores. You are close to the road to Hana (between mile marker 3 & 4), Mama's Fish House, Paia, Makawoa (great small town in Upcountry) and our personal favorite: Haliimaile General Store for dinner.

We had no issues with anything - no bugs, just a few geckos and frogs on the decks - would highly recommend to anyone wanting a private getaway in Maui.

“truly a unique romantic, magical experience”

My husband and I stayed at the Waterfall House for our 35th anniversary. We have travelled extensively since our honeymoon, always trying to stay in great accomodations. This by far outdid any place we have stayed and I do not think we will ever find another place to compare to the Waterfall House. The design and attention to every imaginable - and unimaginable -detail in the home is mindboggling. Everything was immaculate, amazingly no problem with bugs. We had one cute gecko in the house the whole time we were there. The home is very private and in an area at the beginning of the gorgeous Hana Drive. The setting is hard to beat -- what I always imagined true Hawaii to be like. The closest town is 15 minutes away, which had wonderful restuarants, stores and places to get great food to cook in the amazing kitchen and eat in the gorgeous dining room of our home. We ate most dinners in. Why eat out when we could have unmatched ambiance at the Waterfall House?
With our own private pool, cliffside hot tub, showering outside (the best was when it was raining), magnificent views, wonderful breezes, surround sound system, wonderful fireplace, viewing the stars while laying in bed and gorgeous sunrises also from bed - and everywhere else in and out of the house - this was our most romantic, sensuous trip of all time!! We are already planning our next trip back but for a longer time. It was very sad leaving the Waterfall House.
I could go on forever but one last thing I will say is that this house should be on the "Homes of the Rich and Famous." No expense has been spared in the building or decorating of this one of a kind home. I forgot to mention the grounds are indescribably gorgeous -- acres and acres of botanical gardens. I am going to try to end here although it is very difficult not to go on and on and on and on ....

“Perfect secluded honeymoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2005

We stayed in the Cliffhouse at Pali Uli to finish off our honeymoon.
The place was fantastic. The house and grounds were spotless. The house is in a secluded area of the island, and you will be surrounded by nature. You'll see plenty of toads, snails, and gecko's. They like to hang out in the outdoor shower at night but they don't bother you.

This may not be for everyone. The nearest towns (Paia, Makawao) are about 15 minutes away, a lot of the islands tourist activities will be a decent drive away, there is no room service, it tends to rain a bit more, and the roads/surroundings are dark at night. Paia and Makawao are both worth visiting. We spent a lot of time in Paia and had dinner there a few times.

If you're looking for a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii in your own private setting, then this is the place for you. We enjoyed Paia and spent a lot of time there; plenty of nightlife just 15 minutes down the road if you feel like getting out for a night. Makawao is also a great town to visit, especially if you're into art or just want to take a keepsake home with you. Mama's Fish House, Hookipa Beach, and the Road to Hana are all within minutes.

The views from the three back decks (one has a soaking tub and the other two patio furniture) are simply amazing. Morning is the best time to sit out here, as the afternoon winds are pretty strong. Wake up to catch the sunrise at least one morning during your stay, you won't be disappointed. Also be sure to walk the grounds and check out the garden area.

The pool was always clean and great for a quick refreshing dip. The house itself is not very large, but it has everything you'll need for your stay. You'll most likely want to sleep in the detached outside bedroom, we did. This gives you a bit more space to spread out. I've posted a few pictures. We would certainly come back to the Pali Uli estates.

“We felt like we were in a dream”

Our stay at the Waterfall house was nothing short of fantastic. It is an extrordinary property, and the house if full of amazing treasures from far off lands. We enjoyed sunning in the privacy of our own pool and watched the sun come up every morning from our own hot tub overlooking the breathtaking view of the ocean. The staff is very kind, and respectful of privacy, and the house was very clean and organized. The attention to detail was appreciated by both my husband and I. We enjoyed our entire experience at the Waterfall house, and credit the 2 large fertility statues in the dining room with us getting pregnant on our first try...one week after returning home from the house! Please contact me if you wish to have any more information.
