“Pali Ke Kua 209 - Unforgettable View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed 4 nights at Pali Ke Kua #209 last July with our family of 5. The complex is fairly utilitarian, as are interior furnishings. The kitchen is serviceable, even if the dining area is fairly small. Bedrooms are comfortable. The pool was unexceptional. The whole resort area is well-manicured and just what you'd expect.

What makes this spectacular -- and a five-star rental -- is the view. This particular unit has an incredible, virtually unimpeded Bali Hai view. You can see the entire north coast of Kauai, and the summer sunsets are absolutely incredible. It is worth taking the steep path down to the beach just around the corner from the unit. It won't change your life, but it really is a nice, tranquil, relaxing beach.

Location is terrific. We were right up the road from Hanalei, with its cute stores and restaurants. A short drive from Lumahai Beach (a must!) and Tunnels Beach, with its unbelievable snorkeling.

Room Tip: #209 has a great view. Some do, some do not. I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching, and...

The view is outstanding. We have stayed here at least six times over 15 years. This year the pool is closed indefinitely for renovation. Our unit was poorly equiped in the kitchen and had some housekeeping issues. Unfortunately, we will be looking for accomdations that are more client friendly.

For our first trip in Kauai, we could'n choose a better spot. Unit #210, amazing view of ocean, mountains, every day we watched wales and dolphins jumping around at approximately 2000 feet from shore.
All around, very nice houses, St Régis hotel, flowers, vegetation, is so beautiful.
For golf maniac, you have to play the Makai golf course, 2 minutes from condo.
The northern part of the island is the best spot of Kauai, lots of activities and beaches.
The beaches are not what we use to see in the carabean, but so far, very pleasant.
I recommand this place

“Lovely stay in PKK -- cell phone issue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Our nine-day vacation in Pali Ke Kua #245 could not have been more lovely. The two-bedroom, two-bath unit is immaculately maintained and very comfortable, and it and has a stunning angled ocean view. We saw whales and rainbows the very first morning we were there, and the nene geese are hilarious (and sometimes pretty X-rated, if you get my drift). It was a perfect, peaceful stay.

HOWEVER... Pali Ke Kua is a dead zone for AT&T cell phone service. I can't speak to other cell phone providers, but our AT&T phones didn't work until we got near the Princeville shopping center. Since the house phone in #245 is set up for local calls only -- you can't call off-island -- we were essentially incommunicado. If you need to stay in touch with home or work, double- and triple-check the cell phone coverage before booking.

We booked through Kauai Vacation Rentals, delightfully pleasant and efficient folks to work with. Their local knowledge wasn't good -- we called to ask for info on helicopter tours, fresh fish and local gardens, and got inaccurate answers every time -- but their setup work and followup were flawless and I would book through them again. I would also return to Princeville again, because it's exceptionally convenient to the entire North Shore.

“Perfection in Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

While we have had the good fortune to have visited the fabulous island of Kauai and many of the other populated islands in the chain previously, we found our stay this year at #219 Pali Ke Kua to be near perfection for a couple fairly seasoned travelers.

The location, in the Princeville resort area, has facilities for hiking, strolling, golf, jogging and other amenities within walking distance as well as a nice private beach below the condo. A shopping strip at the entrance to the resort provides a full grocery, a few interesting shops, a cafe, a coffee shop, restaurants and (very important) a Lappert's Ice Cream shop. A library and Post Office are also nearby.

World class hiking, including the famed Kalalau Trail, and beaches to numerous to mention, are short drives away. A very short, scenic trip slightly West delivered us to the charming and very walkable little town of Hanalei.

Though we seldom spend much time "in the room" on vacation, the amenities in the recently, and beautifully, renovated unit #219 gave us reason to just hang out at the condo a bit. A well equipped kitchen with new granite and tile had us having more evening meals in than out for once. An entertainment center and Wi-Fi are provided, and shelves are stocked with books, videos and other items to help visitors find what best suits their interests in the area.

Wherever we might have been on the island we made an effort each evening to be back "home" on the Lanai for what must be the best vantage for sunset on the island, with Makana, "Bali Hai" and the edge of the Na Pali coast in view.

In what must be one of the most beautiful spots on the planet, our stay at #219 Pali Ke Kua provided one of our very best vacations, and we hope to return.

Room Tip: Check for renovations, ocean view from lanai
