Hawaii is quite humid and hot during summer and there is no AC anywhere!!!
Room: (2 bedrooms) everything is old and cheap...no privacy (hollow walls and doors), you can hear everything from the parking lot.
Room service: they will vaccum and take the trash out of the room on the 4th day of your stay!!! We had to ask to have the trash removed and some clean towels!!! No beds were made or sheets changed...our bed spread was removed from the floor and dumped into the crib...We requested a crib which was place at the entrance for us to ensemble and no sheets to be found...another call to be placed...we were 6 and need to use the sofa bed which was really thin and worn out and again, another call for sheets and pillows...very unfriendly people delivering items.
Amenities: you need an intenet code daily...Broken DVD player...
Pool: the only nice part of the hotel. Very nice!

We just got back from our trip to Kauai and our stay at Bali Hai. We were in Building 16, which is a newly constructed building. The interior is nicely done with granite and unbelievably comfortable beds and furniture. The trade winds were constant, and the pools and grounds were nicely kept. We had a 2b condo and stayed with another couple. The layout is great with 2 private baths and a split plan. The roosters were there, but we only saw 1 or 2 each day. I brought ear plugs because of all the reviews but the night I forgot to put them in, I never heard the roosters. They are on the island, but it is not overun with them. We hiked the Napali Trail, which is very treacherous when wet, but exhilerating. Make sure you have on proper shoes. The beach after 2 miles is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We did a catamaran trip with Kauai Sea Tours, they were okay, nothing to brag about. But, if you are staying in princeville, you should really book a boat trip from the North side, not from Port Allen. We went to the Smith's Luau which had excellend food. Good price too.

The Wyndham Bali Hai is very nice. We were in a newly remodeled "presidential suite" for our honeymoon, and it was spectacular - granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, it was actually nicer than the condo we own! We received this as a gift, so I have no idea on whether this is a good value, or if the presidential suite is more money/points, etc. One week before we arrived they opened a new pool area, so there are two now, and they are both great. Being from a cold climate (Seattle) I was a bit worried that there was no AC at this timeshare. I can honestly say you don't need it to stay comfortable there - the trade winds really do work! That being said, I do with this resort had AC because you need to constantly keep your windows open while there. Which means if your neighbor snores, or has a cold, or a car honks, or ... you get the idea - you hear it all. I think the most annoying thing - and this is ALL OVER KAUAI, not just here, are the roosters - they crow at all hours of the night! It took us 3-4 nights to get used to them and be able to sleep through it. Again, if you could shut your windows, it would help, but it would be too hot. If you are staying at one of the Wyndham/Puhio resorts, you can use the amentities/features of all of them. The downside, the front desk at Bali Hai closes at 8pm, so if you check in late, or want a movie, or need service, you have to call one of the other resorts down the street. While we were in Kauai, we toured the other Wyndham's, and we feel this is the nicest of them all, and Princeville is a great area.

Bali Hai Villas is situated on a nice piece of property in the Princeville area of Kauai. Depending on which unit you have, you could be facing the mountain side, or maybe catch a glimpse of the ocean below the cliff further down from Bali Hai. I had the best of both of these, and an early morning Rainbow the morning I was leaving was really awesome and breathtaking. After days of rain and little breeze to speak of, it was a nice way to leave. Speaking of rain, yes it rains and often and sometimes very hard. Fortunately, it did help keeps things cool and most fell at night time. That didn't stop the daily onslaught of roosters...who tend to get up in the 4am range. Unless you can sleep through it, don't plan on sleeping late in Kauai, as you will find them on most parts of the island. Bali Hai has no AC in the units, so depending on the time of year, you may need an additional fan. Ceiling fans do help out, and occasionally breezes blow through the units. Morning traffic on the road that runs through the property can be bothersome. You can request a unit that does not face the road. The units are nicely decorated and the kitchen is very functional. I would recommend a 2nd story unit regardless of location to cut down on upstairs noise, although I mostly heard noise from people in other adjoining units, who obviously don't realize how loud their voices and laughter carry at 11:30 at night. They tend to forget that everyone is sleeping with their windows open.

There are 2 pools at this property and one is under construction but open....don't be scared away by the tarp around it...it is very nice, but most people assume it is closed off.

I had read every review I could find on this place because it was a gift from my in-laws and we were bringing my parents. We are from Texas and live in the a/c all the time so I was nervous about relying on the trade winds. It was NOT a problem even in August. Yes, it feels different, but it was plenty cool even after a day at the beach. We kept our front door open except when we left or went to sleep and it was so breezy with that and our lanai screen door.

I lucked out and got a good upgrade. I had read another review that said some 3 bedrooms had a/c in the master. I was so nervous that my parents would be uncomfortable that I called the day before we flew out to see if I could upgrade. I asked them about the 3 bedroom with an a/c in the master and was told they were "Presidential units" and priority went to Wyndham Presidential folks. We booked through RCI, so I was not confident, but sure enough they had a unit available. It was a $30 a night upgrade, but I didn't want to gamble with our vacation so I took it.

My husband and I gave my parents the a/c unit room and we took the "other master". All rooms were great. Our two small kids stayed in the room with two double beds. We stayed in the non a/c master. It had a sliding door access to the lanai, which we left open at night. It had lots of slatted windows and a wonderful jacuzzi in the master. My parents' room was pretty must just like ours but with the a/c. They only used it at night and agreed they could have done without it. Their room also had sliding doors leading to the lanai and a jacuzzi tub. (I will try to post pictures).

We were never hassled by the concierge. I had read reviews that they were relentless, but they didn't call once. The new pool is open and it's great. It's large and has rock waterfalls that you can jump off of. It also has a kids area with a beach entry that our 2 year old loved. It has new gas grills as well.

We really like Princeville and Hannalei. We would definitely stay here again. It's been fantastic.
