“Comfy, huge units”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Best attractions nearby were: the sunset from St. Regis Hotel and the lookout over the Hanalei valley. You do have to drive to everything.

The resort has big units, with comfy bedding and furniture. The kitchen was good sized with all the amenities, also there was a washer dryer in the unit. There is no restaurant on site but we found a couple good ones nearby in Hanalei; the BARacuda and Postcards Cafe. We also found some really good poke at the grocery store in the nearby mall.

I liked the resort for the rooms and the grounds. The pool was nice, the hot tub was hot. The SMOKERS were horrible! We had to sleep with the doors and windows open to keep cool because there is no AC. The people in the unit below would get up at 5am and start smoking so we would wake up gagging on smoke at 5am. We tried sleeping with the windows and doors closed and we roasted. We called and asked to be moved or at least get the people to stop smoking, they couldn't accommodate us and couldn't stop the people from smoking on their own balcony. We finally gave up after three nights terrible nights and we paid to go to a different resort. Never again! They need a smoking section and a NON smoking section.

Room Tip: it's a fair walk to the pool from the units farther out

“Great Stay At Bali Hai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We spent a week in a 3 BR 3 BA Presidential. Fairly new, granite countertops, well equiped kitchen. Large L shaped porch. We were on the first floor next to a pathway to the pool & grills. We also had another building perpendicular to us which gave us no privacy. With the shutters left open at night we could hear late arrivals, early departures, and rather loud & long couple's fight-trouble in paradise. We didn't have problems with the chickens, but had a great experience with numerous Brazilian red headed cardinals. Very tame, beautiful, & one walked into the living room several times. The travel time to the rest of the island is a definite minus. We had spent 1 week at Kauai Beach Villas before our week at Bali Hai. If you can only stay in one place, I would stay stay further down. It is so much easier. Bali Hai is quite nice, but I think the convenience of Kauai Beach Villas outweighs the more plush accomodations.

Room Tip: Higher floors, better view, quieter.

“Great Trip to Bali Hai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Great trip to Bali Hai and to Princeville. The resort was excellent. This is not the Ritz Carlton so disregard some of the reviews that complain about cleaning up after yourself and noise and kids. The pools are great, big enough and not too crowded. Lots of BBQ's (I counted at least 12) and the rooms, even the non renovated ones were perfect. Beaches are close, Hanalei is fantastic, and amenities are nearby. For those that have not been to Kauai, it is truely spectacular and Princeville is a great place to stay.

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This hotel has both good and bad parts.
We stayed at two resorts in Kawaii and spent about 4 days at this one.
The room we were in had an amazing updated kitchen but everything felt a little small (not much storage space in the second room.)
They are building something near the pool at the moment.
But I would definitely stay again. Friendly staff and nice resort all around.

Room Tip: Try and get a view of the mountains.

“Mediocre Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Had to wait about two hours after advertised check in time of 4:00. Our first room was so moldy that I couldn't even breathe. Got a new room which was fine. Mattress of pullout couch was seriously stained. No fitness facility. Very quiet. Lots to do on the island so not much time spent in resort.
