“130B”

If your looking for a place to sleep & shower this is it. The unit was clean except for behind the bed & couch. Probably would not have noticed had I not been looking for a place to plug in the laptop. If you are going to be plugging in, bring a power strip! I was thankful I had one. Never made it to the pool, the trail to the beach is 10 min. walk away! Parking was tricky but once I made it to the back lot I found it convenient & available. The small TV has basic cable. The WiFi was good. Just a warning, the closest laundry is in Kapaa. Tennis is a short walk away also! This unit is on the ground floor. Even tho there was someone above me I rarely heard them, and they had small children. This unit does open up to 130A if they want to be rented together and I was catching sound from 130A, the towel I stuck under the door didn't help much. If you like to sleep in bring your earplugs!

“Enjoyed our stay, but would probably look elsewhere next time”

We stayed in Sandpiper 229A, managed by Condo Bob (Bob Estes). We enjoyed our stay and might probably stay here again, for a shorter stay.

First, the not-so-good:

The unit was clean when we arrived; however, the bathroom in particular was showing its age (mold and mildew). The beds were not very comfortable - they were very lumpy and saggy and hurt my back for most of the trip (I'm in my 30s). We fought with little sugar ants our entire time there (it's a tropical area for sure, but the ants were more pervasive than other places we've stayed in the same area). Very few toiletries were furnished (1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom and no paper towels), so be prepared to go grocery shopping immediately upon arrival (calls to the management number in the condo went unanswered and unreturned). The traffic on Albert Road at the back was loud on some mornings, especially when the garbage trucks roll through at 6am. There is no A/C in this unit, and even in May, it was 85ºF or higher in the afternoons in the condo. We knew this going in, and it just meant that we had to be outside during the afternoons, which wasn't a necessarily bad thing.

The good:

The condo had everything we could possibly need - dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, plates/dinnerware/glasses, snorkel gear, a cooler, deck chairs, a boogie board, books, free Wi-Fi, and even a pack-n-play for our toddler (wish we'd known ahead of time and not had to check ours...). The view was a partial ocean view, meaning you can see the ocean from the loft and the porch, over rooftops -- that's OK, we weren't looking for an ocean view, so it was a plus. The area was quiet, and we were away from the pool; so, we didn't have to contend with any raucous vacationers.

Finally, the really good:

Location and value are definitely this unit's best features. We love the Hanalei area of Kauai, and Princeville is incredibly close (and much cheaper). We could get to anywhere on the north shore within 15 minutes. And, several of our favorite beaches were nearby (Sealodge Beach, Anini Beach, Black Pot Beach, and Hideaways Beach). The price was right for a family of 5 to stay 2 weeks.

Check-in and check-out were fairly standard, and without much hassle. Check-out is 10am, so be prepared to be out early and find something to occupy your time until your flight. Working with Bob Estes was easy to book the condo; payment is due up-front, before arrival. You get one reserved parking space with the condo; additional vehicles must park in the overflow lot nearby.

Overall, you could probably find a better place to stay in Princeville, but this was a good value for the price paid.

“Great Value - Perfect for a budget minded couple looking to explore the island”

We stayed in 229B, the one bedroom with lanai, kitchenette and bathroom with shower. We were a little unsure of our "great deal" (we booked last minute off of craigslist.com) due to few reviews, but figured we couldn't go wrong with being in Kaua'i.

When we arrived we were nicely surprised at how clean, quiet, and safe our location was. The condo is on the 2nd and top floor, no noise above :) 229B doesn't come with a reserved parking spot, but we never had trouble finding one since we didn't come back later than 9 pm. The unreserved spots do fill up as the night goes on and the "overflow parking" at the golf course is quite far away so that was our motivation for coming home early.

The lanai is roomey and has a mountain view - we ate breakfast out there every morning...rain or shine :)

Some nice surprises we found in the condo:
Iron and ironing board
DVD player
Radio
Beach chairs
styrofoam cooler
Wine opener and glasses
Can opener
Electric skillet (we made eggs, bacon/sausage every morning and made steaks one night)
toaster
Coffee maker
Small slow cooker (we never used)
Large bowl to wash clothes/dishes
laundry detergent
Dish soap
Aloe vera

Some things we wish we had:
Larger coffee maker (the one provided makes 5 cups; we obviously like a lot of coffee in the morning)
More than 1 roll of t-paper
Paper towels
shampoo and conditioner

Overall, I would rent this condo again!

“A Definite Diamond in the Rough”

Just recently stayed in Sandpiper Village in 229 A and B and loved it!! Wasn't sure at first after the lack of reviews and the negative reviews on here, but we really loved it and had a great time! It was quiet and beautiful, the condo had everything we could possibly need!! True, Princeville is far from everything, but it is sooooooo worth it! Would definitely recommend Princeville Ranch Adventures if you are into ziplining, kayaking, hiking, etc. We had an awesome time! Would definitely recommend Sandpiper to others, and would definitely stay there again!! The price is right and it is a beautiful location! Ready to go back now!! :) Condo Bob is awesome! www.condobob.com.

“Sandpiper 121B- Cozy Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2010

My husband and I stayed for a week in Sandpiper 121B and it was just right for the two of us. The first night, it was a little loud but the next day we went and bought a little fan and that made a world of difference. We loved that we were able to make all our meals in the kitchen and make a little home for the week. The manager was very helpful with the questions that we had. There were never any problems with parking. The best part was being close to Hanalei which is where we spent most of our time. I would highly recommend staying here, its not a luxurious hotel but for the price it meant we could take a trip to Kauai so it was definitely worth it!
