Pros; Laid back, relaxing, not crowded, beautiful pools, landscaping and magificent views. Friendly staff, first-class amenities including the best beds, pillows and sheets, upscale clientele, St Regis access.
Cons: Far off the beaten track (maybe that is a plus), expensive, often rainy (it's in the mountains) LIMITED BAY ACCESS (ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER WHEN NORTH SHORES ARE BATTERED BY THE WINDS) and in our case, relatively poor repsonse by management when our car was broken into (back window smashed by a vandal) and our GPS stolen. It can happen anywhere, and everywhere the disclaimer's say "not responsible for damages" so I didn't really expect compensation when our timeshare rep insisted that Starwood would pay for damages "because they always go above and beyond" to satisfy their guests. I was prepared to "bite the bullet" and had my damages repaired at $474, and wrote off the loss of my Tom-Tom as my own fault for keeping it in the car. But I do remember having a similar breaak-in to our timeshare in Antigua some 12 years ago. When a camera and wallet with some cash were stolen from our unit, the management apologetically provided us with a certificate for a free week's stay in another timeshare. The thoughtfulness stayed with me because I realize they were victims as much as I, but that was true customer service. I thought some gesture from Westin Princeville would have been appropriate, especially since it occurred on a night we had arranged with their concierge to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary! Lightening does strike twice. 43 years earlier, on our honeymoon, our car was broken into and all my MoTown tapes were stolen! Thank God the thief left my Beach Boys alone! Oh well, over 42 years of travel to hundreds of places stuff CAN happen, so be on your guard! And don't be put off by a few bad incidents. All in all, it is still a beautiful world out there, with some great people to get to meet!
