“Wonderful, Relaxing Condo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

We had a wonderful time at Whalers Cove! Our condo had a beautiful ocean view and nice comfortable furniture. We enjoyed coffee on the balcony each morning. The condo was very quiet and the pool was never busy. We enjoyed swimming late in the afternoon and having the jacuzzi all to ourselves.
We saw lots of turtles as they were swimming into Turtle Cove. We were able to watch the Kauai Marathon from our balcony. It was exciting to see the runners on their last mile.
Marianne, the on-site manager, and Eileen were very welcoming and always helpful. I recommend booking directly with the resort so that they can help you if you have any questions or need anything. You will also have housekeeping each day and fresh towels if you book through the resort.
We definitely made the right choice with Whalers Cove. We liked everything about it. We were sad to leave. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to all--unless you are looking for a party atmosphere.

“Everything you could want and SEA TURTLES”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

This is a fantastic property. Service is excellent;condos are lovely. The manager knows everything about the area, and is extremely helpful. Sea turtles are nearby every afternoon, and approachable. The condo had fantastic ocean views. Best orchid garden I have ever seen. It's a great location, near great beaches, snorkeling, outdoor activities, restaurants and shopping. It's small and personal with great service. One of the nicest places I've stayed.

“construction near Whalers Cove”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Just a quick note about construction near Whalers Cove. We're here this week, Nov. 6-13th staying in unit 222. Sitting in the living room right now listening to the beep beep beep of construction and the sound of a backhoe scraping up rocks. First off, it's not horribly loud. We didn't really even notice at the beginning of the week, but it seems to be getting louder yesterday and today. Secondly, the property is still beautiful and in a great location. But the construction is happening on the other side of the cove and behind a row of houses. It's a large construction site and looks like it'll be going on for a while. We're in the building behind the pool which is closer to the construction. If you were in the front building, you probably wouldn't hear it at all. I'll post more about this place later and some of the activities we did (helicopter ride with Inter-Island). Have to get going. so much to do here!

“Peaceful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

We stayed in Whaler's Cove #212. This building is a condo building with a pool. Whaler's Cove is on the ocean at the end of a residential area. There is no street noise to contend with. The grounds are nicely landscaped and maintained.

The unit itself was nicely decorated, beds were very comfortable.
This unit is a ground floor unit overlooking the pool area which then leads to the ocean wall. The waves constantly crash against the rocks but because you are some distance back, the noise isn't overwhelming. There is a definitely a laid back, relaxed atmosphere here.

Like most condos on Kauai, this one has no A/C. Therefore, if you want cool breezes you have to leave your lanai doors open and rely on the locked front screen door which is fairly substantial as far as screen doors go. There is no way to lock the flimsy lanai screen doors ( which are ground level ). I was uncomfortable with the idea at first, but got used to it ( it was either that or be hot at night ).

Some minor issues: the washing machine was moldy because people don't let it dry out after use. The condo mgmt company took care of it. Except for the kitchen, all the bulbs were fairly low wattage, so if you need bright reading light you are out of look.

The pool and hot tub are nice. The pool area also has a shared bbq grill. As an added bonus in 212, you get to enjoy the delicious smells coming off the grill as folks cook their dinners.

If you're looking for a quiet stay with lots of room ( 1700 sq ft ) this is a good place. You can also walk to restaurants and a Wed-only farmers' market nearby. There's a cool beach at the Sheraton. It's about a 10-15 minute walk.

I would not recommend WC for families with teens as I think they would be bored stiff.

fyi, we read a note in the guestbook that a previous guest had a bag stolen when they left it sitting out, so regardless of where you go, the thiefs are out there.

The company managing this condo also was able to better our name-brand car rental by $100/week so we rented from them.

We would definitely return.

“Whalers Cove is breathtaking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

Whalers Cove In Poipu is everything you will need! Close to shops, resturants, & activities! Quiet and secluded with ocean views to die for...

We stayed in two condos, unit #231 had two large bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and one washroom on the main floor. It was on the 3rd floor right smack dab in the middle of the building! Master bedroom faced the ocean and the constant wind kept the condo cool! This unit was updated with all modern appliances and granet counter tops... Very Beautiful!

After the family left my husband and i moved to a smaller condo but still very spacious with two bedrooms two bathrooms and a pull out couch. Unit #210 is on the ground floor in the corner beside the office and we still had ocean views!!! This unit had easy access to the pool/hottub which we liked! Master bathroom was updated very beautiful!

The staff is great all very helpful and easy going. A nice laid back feeling!

We would come back to Whalers cover!
