My husband and I stayed at the Prince Kuhio, unit 136, for ten days in October 2011. We arranged the stay through VRBO, and everything was handled very well. The rate was more than fair, the owner's agent easy to communicate with, and he provided answers to all of my questions. He even greeted us when we arrived! The unit was large, comfortable and well-stocked with most everything that we needed. The kitchen was well-equipped and contained those essentials that are often forgotten (coffee filters, corkscrew). The unit is a ground floor studio, at the end of the hallwway, so pretty quiet. There is an internet connection so if you want to bring your laptop, as we did, you are set. There is an air conditioning unit, but also lots of windows that open, so you can take advantage of breezes. The swimming pool is nice - deep, pretty large - and lots of lounge chairs set around it. We figured out, as you will, that much of it is in shade in the late afternoon, so you may want to snag seats on the sunny end of the pool! There are laundry facilities on site, and a lot of books in the office, if you run out of things to read. There is plenty of parking, some of it in a covered garage. There is no view from this unit, but it is across the street from the ocean, and I would rather pay less for accomodations without a view, to be able to stay longer on the island. This was our first visit to Kauai, but not our last, and I would definitely stay again at the Prince Kuhio. (Note: I give a high rating to the sleep quality, because the room was comfortable, but you should be aware of the early birds - roosters and others - who start their calling very early in the morning!).
